FNF is chiefly concerned with the problems of maintaining a child's relationship with both parents, during and after family breakdown. FNF helps thousands of parents each year and also supports members of the wider family if required. The local branch offers a warm welcome to all parents and family members who are affected by difficulties in maintaining contact with their children as a result of relationship breakdown. At monthly meetings there are Parents with similar experiences. The self-help group aim to support and guide each other in solving problems and regaining balance when things break down. The group help each other find information that enables them to make informed choices about how to move ahead. Birkenhead meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, at Gallagher’s Pub, 20 Chester Street, Birkenhead CH41 5DQ at 7.00pm. Website address: www.fnf.org.uk Emyln Jones Family Court Help & McKenzie Friends Family Court Help is a Social Enterprise, providing support to parents in the family courts, a charge of £130 when appearing in court. One to one meetings are held with charging. McKenzie friends are volunteers and provide assistance and support for parents who because of the withdrawal of Legal Aid wish to represent themselves in court. Family Court Help (McKenzie Friends) provide experienced case workers to accompany the client to court and manage the hearing. Some are legally trained whilst others have extensive experience in the arena of Family Law. The aim of the project is to provide a peer to peer mentoring services for carers to provide advice / guidance/ support social inclusion/ signposting/training and general support.
