SCREENWRITING WORKSHOP
BY ANJUM RAJABALI
MAY 21-25, 2014
The last 12 months have been nothing but good news for Indian screenwriters!
While South Indian films have, for some time, been experimenting with narrative content, styles and forms, Hindi
films too have begun doing so. The heartening result is that projects are being confirmed for the quality of their
scripts and such films are connecting with the audience to great box office success too! Queen, Ship of Theseus, The
Lunch Box, Kai Po Che, Vicky Donor, Delhi Belly and Shahid are just a few examples.
This is wonderful news for screenwriters!
Of course, the common factor in all such films is a courageously written, emotionally moving, nuanced script.
For those interested in learning the principles of the screenwriting craft and stimulating their creative process,
Whistling Woods and the Film Writers' Association have once again organised a 5-day Screenwriting Workshop.
Through interactive sessions and with the aid of many examples, participants will be educated about all the
elements needed for a well-written script. The workshop will also outline the advisable steps in the construction of a
script.
