John Damin Tax Manager - SALT John is a Tax Manager in GTM’s State and Local Tax practice. John’s SALT experience includes tax planning, tax compliance, controversy, and state tax provision review. John’s work has also focused on the SALT aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including internal restructurings, transaction analysis, and due diligence. John’s primary focus has been in state and local income/franchise tax. John also has experience in sales and use tax. John joined GTM in February 2014 and is excited to have the opportunity to grow with the firm. John has nearly seven years of SALT experience with “Big Four” accounting firms, where John gained the tax technical and client relationship skills that he brings to GTM today. John has also instructed SALT courses and written published SALT articles. John focuses his efforts on providing value added services to his clients and colleagues. John strives to deliver a high quality product through evaluating the needs (explicit and underlying) of those he works with, then using the resources around him to deliver to the best of his ability. In this regard, John strives to be open to new professional and personal growth opportunities, many of which may rest outside of his comfort zone. John is a licensed CPA and Attorney in the State of Pennsylvania.. John is a member of various professional organizations, including the AICPA and the Philadelphia Bar Association SALT Focus Group. John earned his Juris Doctorate from the Pennsylvania State University – Dickinson School of Law. John also has a B.S. in Accounting from Juniata College. As a transplant to the Greater Philadelphia region, John has successfully thwarted efforts from his friends and colleagues to become faithfully devoted to the Philadelphia professional sports teams. However, that is not to say that John isn’t open minded to new culture and experiences, as he welcomes recommendations for interesting local music and art exhibits, movies, books, and (last but not least), craft beers.
