THEME
KNOWLEDGE, CULTURE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE 21 ST CENTURY
Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) is delighted to announce the 2nd and final call for papers
for the first local conference on its mandate – Centre of excellence in arts, culture and
heritage – to be held on 7 – 9 October 2014. Non-GZU researchers from Zimbabwe and
abroad with particular interest in the University niche are encouraged to respond. The
conference aims to provide a platform for scholars in the areas of Commerce, Science,
Agriculture, Culture and Heritage Studies, Education, Arts and Social Sciences to deliberate
on issues embracing knowledge, culture and sustainable development within the framework
of the 21st century. The University also intends to come up with a book project in which the
papers presented will constitute chapters for reading resource materials meant to enhance the
implementation of the new programmes that are informed by its mandate.

The submission should be structured as follows:





Clear and concise paper title
Selected Sub-theme
Author(s)
Institution
Author(s) contact details: email address and phone number

Abstract must be written in English in 12 point, Times New Roman font.
Abstract must be between 250 and 300 words.
Abstract should show innovation.
A statement stating that the work has not been published elsewhere should be included in the
abstract.
DEADLINES
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 29 August 2014.

ACCEPTANCE PROCESS



All abstracts submitted will be peer reviewed with particular focus on significance of
the study, originality, logic and clarity of presentation.
The latest date for issuing feedback on the abstracts received will be 31 August 2014.
If an abstract is accepted the author(s) will be requested to submit the full paper for
presentation by 30 September 2014.
