Announcement and Call for Abstracts: 2nd JSA-Anesthesiology Symposium Theme: Anesthesia and Cancer Survival Chair persons: Marcel E Durieux, Moritoki Egi Keynote speakers: Marcel E Durieux, Takafumi Inada The Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists (JSA) and ANESTHESIOLOGY (the official journal of the ASA) are pleased to announce the 2nd JSA-Anesthesiology Symposium” to be held at the 58th Annual Meeting of JSA on May 20, 2011, in Kobe, Japan. This symposium highlights emerging and important concepts in anesthesia research and clinical practice on the same topic at both the JSA and the ASA annual meetings. Investigators from Asian and Oceanian countries in addition to JSA members with an interest in the above theme are strongly encouraged to submit their work to the JSA annual meeting. Four abstracts will be accepted and the authors will be invited to present their work at the symposium in English with the keynote speakers. The authors of abstracts selected for the symposium will be offered an opportunity to submit their work to ANESTHESIOLOGY for inclusion in the special Symposium issue to be published in 2012. Investigators are encouraged to submit abstracts based on their prospective or retrospective studies of the effect of anesthetic management of the cancer surgery patient and other perioperative factors on their long term outcomes, short term outcomes, or biomarkers and in vitro or in vivo studies of the effect of anesthetic agents on tumor angiogenesis and other factors related to metastasis. ・Abstract submission will start on November 1, 2010 and the deadline is February 1, 2011. ・The abstract must be written in English. ・Online abstract submissions are required. URL will be announced on November 1, 2010 ・Abstracts are limited to 2400 characters. ・The title of the abstracts are limited to 120 characters, and summary should be within 200 characters. ・Notification of acceptance will be mailed by February 28, 2011 ・ The authors will be allowed to submit the abstracts at ASA future annual meeting. ・ Financial support will not be provided to the authors of the accepted abstracts.
