MYP THE NEXT CHAPTER IN SCHOOL YEAR 2014/15
The IB currently reviewed the design of the
Middle Years Programme (MYP).
The changes to the MYP seek to enhance the
underlying strengths of the program, enable
more schools to offer the program within
national and state systems and align it more
closely with the other IB programs in order to
provide a coherent educational pathway for
students. The MYP has always been
characterized by a focus on the development of
conceptual understanding through relevant
contexts; this will continue to underpin the
curriculum planning process.
The new MYP Model
Dear parents, students, colleagues,
We hope that you took the last 2 months to relax
and enjoy the summer.
We welcome all of our MYP studentss back to
school and, we wish them a lot of success.
In short, is that AoIs are transformed into Global
Contexts. Allll 6 of them will be covered in every
subject group. Global contexts are aligned with
Key concepts and Related
elated concepts to provide
both an organization and an extension of
learning within and across the subjects, through
the exploration of real
real-life issues.
Last school year we prepared for changes in MYP
called Next Chapter. All teachers worked really
hard to cover all changes in all subjects. Most of
them took part in In-school
school workshop at the very
begging of summer holiday and all started new
school year at the workshop at the end of the
August. All teachers are looking forward to apply
all new knowledge they gained.
All subjects have new subject guides with
improved subject criteria (4 per every subject).
Some subject groups changed
change their names:
Humanities into Individuals and Societies,
Technologies into Design, etc. Some changes will
come into Personal Project and we are start
starting
with a new Community project.
This school year will bring some changes into
i
the
teaching staff, as well ass the organization of the
school year. You can read
ad about these changes in
this issue of the newsletter.
