Mission Statement: Seeking to put God’s love into action , Habitat for Humanity brings people together to A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF MARIPOSA COUNTY As we look forward to the fall season and hopefully some sorely needed rain, I am excited to report that our third home is underway. We had our newest family introduction dinner at the Lutheran church recently. Thanks to Pastor Ginny Bishop and all who participated in any way! . Our new family, Amanda Ehler and her kids, Khalil and Ella Rose, helped us announce the winners of the raffle items. Amanda donated a very intricate African basket from her store in town , Anahata. We invite everyone to visit her store to see the many hand-made treasures. Our major benefactors, Joy and Howard Dudley, have given us a second property on Sebastopol Road. Their gifts of two parcels have given us a major start in providing safe, decent, affordable homes here in Mariposa. As I write this, we have just completed the concrete pad and will shortly receive a second big donation. Dave Lawson has volunteered his Lawson Construction crew to frame, install windows, exterior doors and roof sheeting all in only one week! This gift allows us a giant step forward to completing the home faster. We are overwhelmed by Dave’s offer. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, October 13, 2013! We have two new directors on our Board: Louie Edwards, Construction, and Jane Wiggans, Site Selection. There are other openings; please consider working with us to help those in need of a simple, decent home. My personal thanks go out to everyone involved in our program including folks in Oakhurst, Coarsegold and Ahwahnee. Sincerely, Al Johnson Check out our Facebook page! A special “thank you” to those who have donated more than one vehicle!! We learned from Habitat International recently that we have been the top affiliate in service areas of fewer than 50,000 people in terms of money brought in through CFH. This is very exciting for us since Mariposa County has a population of 18,000! Last week an affiliate in Oregon made a big vehicle sale which earned that affiliate $10,000 so they are now ahead of us by $5,000! Can we surpass them to regain our title? We can try! we need you!!!
