THERE YOU HAVE IT.

ETHYLENE VINYL ACETATE (EVA)
BASED HOT-MELT ADHESIVES
HAVE BEEN THE WORKHORSE OF
PACKAGING ADHESIVES FOR THE
PAST 40 YEARS.
In 2013, the
packaging
industry used
an excess
of 400 MM
pounds of
EVA ...
WHICH ROUGHLY CORRESPONDS TO MORE THAN 1
BILLION POUNDS OF HMA!
HOWEVER, THE INTRODUCTION OF AFFINITY GA POLYOLEFIN POLYMERS (POP’s) IN THE LATE
1990’S LED TO THE LAUNCH OF A NEW FAMILY OF HMA’S, WHICH QUICKLY PROVED TO BE
SUPERIOR TO EVA-BASED HMA’S.
These high flow AFFINITY-based HMA’s are now the premier hot-melts in the industry today. They combine
impressive performance characteristics with unparalleled and customer demonstrated cost savings.
WHAT MAKES
AFFINITY GA
DIFFERENT?
A METALLOCENE IS NOT AN
ADHESIVE. IT IS A CATALYST.
Let’s start with chemistry. AFFINITY-based
HMA’s are alternatively called METALLOCENE
Adhesives. But the term METALLOCENE is
often misunderstood in daily adhesive
discussion. HERE’S THE TRUTH
Is used as a catalyst in the actual
creation of hot-melt polymers!
In which the
metallocene
compound ..
(DON’T WORRY, THE CHEMISTRY PART IS OVER)
But with a better understanding of what a metallocene actually is, we can truly understand how they make
AFFINITY-based HMA’s superior to any product in the market!
METALLOCENE catalysts have demonstrated incredibly high productivity which
translates to lower catalyst cost and an overall cleaner polymer.
A cleaner polymer means also gives the metallocene polymer a
lower molecular weight. This reduces smoke, char, and other
process difficulties associated with traditional
EVA formulations.
Above all else, metallocenes allow
for more flexible HMA solutions
for use in almost any
application.
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT MY LINE?
In every way possible! AFFINITY-based HMA’s provide performance benefits that echo through an entire application line such as:
