Assembly Instructions for cable gland:

IP 68 Glands for 60 metres for 6 hours

TESTING
This cable gland range has been tested for IP 68 for 60
metres for 6 hours in equipment with threaded entries
with more than 6 full threads engagement.
INITIAL ASSEMBLY
Assemble the cable gland fully in line with Assembly
Instruction Sheet AI 461. Carry out inspection, by
disassembling the cable gland, ensuring the sealing
compound is fully cured.

PREPARATION OF THE DISASSEMBLED PARTS
Ensure both male and female threads are clean, dry and
free from any oil or grease. Clean parts with a solvent
cleaner, we recommend AME cleaner, if parts are not
clean, dry and oil or grease free.

APPLICATION
Re-assemble cable gland in line with the supplied
assembly instruction sheet, including the fitment of a
plastic sealing washer.

Apply a bead of the Loxeal 83.54 around the first 2 thread
forms (marked A) around the complete circumference of
the male thread and apply a small bead onto the first 2
threads in the female thread (marked B), half the
diameter of the orifice. Assemble the components as
normal and tighten as required. Any excess adhesive
which comes outside of the joint remove with a cloth and
dispose of in a bin. Allow the adhesive to cure, handling
strength will be reached in 1-3 hours, and full cure is
24-36 hours. In very cold temperatures, an activator
(ATT11) may need to be applied to ensure the adhesive
cures.
By applying the adhesive on both the female and male
fitting this will ensure that the adhesive will spread
throughout the joint and thread forms and will lock and
seal the components throughout the joint. The adhesive
is impervious to sea water and sea/salt spray.
NOTE
1) Do not allow the Loxeal to migrate onto the cable
gland seals, compound or armour clamping section. A
sealing washer will be required on the metric gland
entry thread.
2) Once the Loxeal sealant is fully cured, it is not
possible to disassemble or re-adjust the cable
gland.
