UniTwist Push-fit Compression Fittings www.unitwist.co.za www.unitwist.co.za Code of Practice for UniTwist Types of Installations a) Underground and Trenches When closing it is advised to leave all joint area's open under pressure for an hour or more to make sure the joint is dry and strong. Make sure you don't pull the pipe tight. Leaving some play will prevent the pipe from “pulling” out of the fitting should there be some movement when filled. Always make sure when closing there are no sharp objects that may damage the pipe. b) Surface mounts Wombats should preferably be fitted on a horizontal run 350mmto 500mm apart. This provides stability and helps with keeping the pipe straight. Corners should have wombats within 100mm of each side of the corner for extra strength. On a Vertical run, centres should be measured at least at 1metre intervals, for a perfect hold. c) Inside wall Make sure you don't pull the pipe tight. Leave some play when plastering or encasing the fitting in a dry wall. This will prevent the pipe from pulling out of the fitting with expansion and contraction. Always turn the water on for at least 1hour before closing up allowing you to inspect. Take care not to anchor the pipe with any sharp objects (bent nails etc.) d) Ceilings Fittings should be anchored firmly to prevent water hammer. All pipes should be fixed securely to timber, allowing for expansion and contraction. Take care not to anchor pipe with any sharp objects (bent nails etc.) Cut pipe a) b) c) d) e) Turn nut anti-clock 1 turn Insert pipe to stop Turn to tighten When using a UniTwist push-fit compression fittings with UniTwist Monogold PP-R pipe, Polycop, polypipe, Copper or any other type of pipe, please observe the following important points: Cut the pipe then make a mark 3cm from the end as a depth indicator.
