Grades and Corrections
Online assignment and exam scores are posted immediately in SAM 2010’s Gradebook as percent scores, and
later in Blackboard’s Grade Center as numeric point-value scores. Questions about score errors must be
initiated within seven days of the grade posting date in SAM. The need for a score change must be clearly
demonstrated using your submitted assignment or exam data.
Exams
Each student is required to take Exams at scheduled times in the classroom unless a change has been
approved by the instructor prior to the Exam. Exams missed for insufficient reasons will receive a score of zero.
Assignments
In Office 2010®, complete the Text assignments and SAM Paths before beginning work on the Projects. The
Tutorials and SAM Paths help you practice skills required to successfully complete the Projects.
There are several computer labs available – Allendale: Henry, Mackinac, The Connection, Honors, Manitou,
and Mary Idema Pew Library (lab and public computers); Grand Rapids: DeVos and the Center for Health
Sciences; Holland: two labs. Reminder: GVSU Lab Assistants are not tutors; they are available to help only with
lab computer issues. Your instructor is available to help with assignment questions. Tutoring is available in the
SASC Tutoring Center, 331-3451.
Attendance
Students are responsible for material covered in class, including announcements and assignment/schedule
changes. Some exam questions may refer to material covered only in class, such as current events or recent
technology advancements. There is a direct relationship between attendance and your grade.
Special Needs
If you need accommodations because of a learning, physical, or other disability, please contact your instructor
and Disability Support Resources (DSR) at 616-331-2490. We will work together to make your learning and
exam experiences the best possible. If you need assistance evacuating the classroom and/or building in an
emergency, please make your instructor aware so a plan can be developed to assist you.
Academic Honesty
All Exams and Assignments are to be completed individually. While assisting another student in learning is
part of the academic process, completing the assigned work as a team or group effort is not allowed and will
be considered Academic Dishonesty. No Academic Dishonesty will be tolerated. Consequences will include
the most severe penalty allowed by GVSU policy. SAM, our online learning environment, will identify
submitted Project files that have not been downloaded and modified by you. Submitting someone else’s
work (whole file or copy/paste) will result in a score of 0. Repeat offenses will receive a more significant
grade penalty, with very tough consideration for dishonesty on Exams.
Please read the School of Computing and Information Systems Policy: www.cis.gvsu.edu/Academics/Honesty.
