Force Field Project, as a program of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia,
uses innovative art and creativity to call attention to the potential
of neglected spaces in economically struggling neighborhoods in
Philadelphia. We bring large-scale, interdisciplinary art installations
that explore a variety of mediums including performance, video,
sound, and sculpture.
Force Field leverages the potential of these events to create opportunities for positive neighborhood transformation
by partnering with local and regional artists, community development groups, and arts and culture-based nonprofits.

Why sponsor our event?
+ The space for this event totals over 200,000 square feet and will showcase artists from many different mediums.
+ The Force Field festival promises to attract 1,000+ people. (based on Data Garden’s 2012 event, The Switched-on
Garden 002).
+ While the audience is all ages, the event appeals most heavily to the 21-40 year old demographic who are interested
in art exhibitions, experimental art installations, attending cultural events, communities repurposing abandoned
buildings, and community revitalization.
+ A secondary audience for this event is area youth ages 14-21 who are interested in arts and culture initiatives,
careers in the arts, and have an interest in community revitalization.
+ Performances by local and national musicians will attract a big crowd.
+ Food and drink from local food trucks and breweries will add to the ambiance of the 2-day festival.
+ Force Field will partner with area youth serving organizations to provide free festival tickets for youth and guided
tours during installation and the event, providing youth an opportunity to see first-hand how a festival of this
magnitude is coordinated and engage with artists whose work interests them.
The opportunity.
Kensington is one of the most racially and ethnically diverse regions of the City, boasting a large population of Latino
Americans (mainly Puerto Ricans and Dominicans), African Americans, and Irish, Italian, and Polish Americans. Each
of these distinct groups brings a wealth of cultural traditions to their community that contributes to its vibrancy.
Kensington is also home to a thriving arts and culture scene with many neighborhood nonprofits and local artists
contributing to the revitalization of the neighborhood. Philadelphia at large is flooded with artists, musicians, and
performers that need support to complete and exhibit their work.
Decades ago, Kensington had a thriving textiles industry. Today, Kensington’s unemployment rate is nearly 30% and
the media has stigmatized it as the “Badlands” due to higher rates of poverty, food insecurity, and drug related crime
than any other Philadelphia neighborhood.
With the support of local businesses and organizations Kensington has the potentional to evolve into a beautiful
neighborhood.
