Margaret White AO was appointed to the Queensland Court of Appeal in 2010, having served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland since 1992. She was admitted as a barrister in 1978 and practised at the private bar until 1990 when she was elevated to the bench as a Master of the Supreme Court of Queensland. In 2013 Justice White retired from the Court, and was commissioned to head the Queensland Racing Commission of Inquiry. This year marks 50 years of membership of the International Law Association for Justice White. Justice White will address the contemporary issues and international legal consequences which occur when a polity is dismembered, or when it achieves independence, or on the amalgamation of states.
