View Point ! July/August 2014 Vol. 54 No. 4 Days Destiny ! ! !! of -90th celebration- DCPI Conference and Information, Pg 3 Days of Destiny …Out of the Mouth Bishop Randell O. Drake [email protected] Michelle Drake [email protected] What a great time we all had at Days of Destiny Camp Meeting. I appreciate each speaker – Don Reed, Mike Reed, Steve Allen, Teresa Snider, Lindsey Snider and Taylor Drake – as they did some “tag team” preaching together. It was wonderful to see the generations ministering together in The Word. Avoid Being the “Last Word Freak” Thank you: “Practically perfect in every way,” is a common statement made about Mary Poppins in the classic movie by the same name. Is that you? I know I’ve said it on more than one occasion. Maybe I’ve meant it partially but not in full! There, you have my confession. If you always have to be right and prove your husband that you’re right, then there will most assuredly be some problems coming your way. General rule of thumb, say what you have to say; then stop. Don’t keep on dragging it out. ALL men hate that. Too many words and they will interpret it as nagging! Then, they’ll want to go to the roof or their man-cave. It takes a strong woman to admit when she is wrong. Somehow, when we have “the last word,” it gives us a sense that we have ended the discussion, our husbands agreed with us and we were right. That is a false assumption. The basic principle is, “You can give up your ‘rights’ at times and be married or you can be “right” all the time and be single. I’ll take the former. Author and encourager Karen Blake shares, “Every time we use our words and actions to love someone, encourage someone, or help someone, we are making a deposit in their emotional bank account. Every time we say something mean or hurtful or act rudely, we are making a withdrawal.” Isaiah 54:3 encourages us with, “Great will be your peace and undisturbed composure.” I’ll take peace and undisturbed composure any day!
