Call to Order
Ms. Whitlock, President, called the meeting to order at 5:30
p.m. Also present were Dr. Arbetter, Ms. Burke, Dr. Haug, Dr. Hobbs, Mr. Lindhorst, Dr. Reiter,
Dr. Strauther, Mr. Crotzer and Mrs. Ormsby.

Motion was made by Mr. Behlmann, seconded by
Dr. Youngblood, to move into Executive Session for Discussion of Hiring, Firing, Disciplining or
Promoting Specific Employees Pursuant to section 610.021 (3). Ms. Whitlock, president, called

Workshop
The Board discussed Budget Advisory Committee
Recommendations, Graduation Speaking Schedule, Summer School Graduation Speaker,
MSBA Delegate and Alternate, Policy FF - Facility Naming Request and Construction Update.
No action was necessary on Workshop items.
Regular Meeting
Ms. Whitlock, President, called the regular meeting of the
Board of Education to order at 6:42 p.m.
Moment of
Silence
The Board of Education observed a moment of silence for
Asia Muhammed, 8th grader at East Middle; Lavene Vails, grandmother of Tiffany Slater,
Director of Human Resources; Robin Mitchell, mother of Courtney Williams, Clinic Aide at
Central High; William Trebilcock, brother of Candice White, Administrative Secretary to Assistant
Superintendent Lisa Strauther; and Louise Bates, mother of Lamont Hammonds, Building Aide
at Central Early Childhood.

Mrs. Latham to approve the agenda as presented for May 6, 2014.

Recognition
Dr. Jeff Haug, Assistant Superintendent for instruction,
recognized the Spring Activities of the District’s High Schools.
Dr. Grayling Tobias, Superintendent, recognized the staff who
completed the Missouri Leadership for Excellence, Achievement and Development (MoLEAD)
project.
Reports
Dr. Lisa Strauther, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction,
presented the Hazelwood Next - Elementary School Subcommittee recommendations to the
Board.
Dr. Willicia Hobbs, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction,
presented the Hazelwood Next - Middle School Subcommittee recommendations to the Board.
Dr. Jeff Haug, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction,
presented the Hazelwood Next - High School Subcommittee recommendations to the Board.
Dr. Evelyn Woods, Principal at Grannemann Elementary
School, presented to the Board the accountability report for Grannemann Elementary School.
Dr. Tony Brooks, Principal at West Middle School, presented to the Board the accountability
report for West Middle School. Dr. Katy Chambers, Principal at Northwest Middle School,
presented to the Board the accountability report for Northwest Middle School.
Mr. Dwight Lindhorst, Assistant Superintendent for Facilities
and Finance, introduced Mr. Kevin Cross, Director of Purchasing and Supplier Diversity to the
Board who presented the Supplier Diversity Update to the Board.
Patron
Participation
Fredrick Calfolla thanked the Board of Education and
commented on middle schools and the District. William Hinchcliff commented on the attendance
policy effect on activities at West High. Diane Livingston commented on National Teacher
Appreciation Day/Week and patron participation.
