For TÜV INTERCERT GmbH – Group of TÜV Saarland the year 2013 was vital for strategic
cooperation.
On the one hand there was cooperation with the MENA (Middle East and North Africa)
photovoltaic laboratory in Dubai. These highly innovative tests can be performed in less time.
Companies will profit from this advantage in order to meet the increasing demands of the
market. With this cooperation, the fast-growing area in Middle East will be strengthened.
On the other hand the cooperation with the Italian leader for certification IMQ - Istituto
Italiano del Marchio di Qualità with a focus on quality assurance for the automotive supply
chain in accordance with ISO / TS 16949, brought an extension of existing services. The
cooperation is initially valid for the TÜV INTERCERT GmbH - Group of TÜV Saarland and its
connected offices in Egypt, India, Middle East, Turkey and the USA.
New office for Italy
Since 1st of May 2013, the Italian office is located at a new site. This new location is more
modern, larger and central. TÜV INTERCERT Italia S.r.l. - Group of TÜV Saarland strengthens
the location Reggio Emilia supporting the companies and organizations with experience and
expertise in the fields of certification, testing and inspection.

Influence in the Middle East is growing
After having strengthened the MEA region (Middle East Asia) with new partners in 2012,
2013 already borne fruit:
•
The Ministry of Education in Dubai - United Arab Emirates has successfully
completed ISO 9001 certification for five of its prime central departments (Corporate
Excellence, Strategic Planning, Curriculum, Human Resources and Purchase). The
Ministry has already begun to prepare other departments for the ISO 9001
certification. In the next cycle six key management departments and three other
training institutions will be added.

The Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services - RAF from
Qatar has also successfully completed the IOS 9001 certification. The handover of
certificate was carried out in a solemn ceremony, which was broadcasted by the
Qatari television in the entire Arab world.

Experience exchange
Of course new markets were also an important issue in the international experience
exchange in Barcelona. Between September and November 2013, the annual national
experience exchanges took place. These days are for meetings and discussions of
employees, partners and experts, with the aim to communicate news from industry and trade
associations, and to discuss new services and changes in certification rules.

New services
The experience exchange is not only an important communication medium but also a place
for ideas of new services. In 2013 TÜV INTERCERT GmbH Group of TÜV Saarland,
introduced amongst others the following new services:

Salt mist and ammonia corrosion testing of photovoltaic modules - These tests are
used to determine the resistance of various PV modules to corrosion by salt spray or
ammonia (NH3).
5S methodology is used as a tool to make jobs and their environment safe, clean
and clear. Order and cleanliness in the workplace are basic requirements for the
improvement of work processes, which run on them. The risk of accidents at work
shall be minimized.
In the area of management systems, the new accreditation for ISO/IEC 27001:2005
(Information Security) and DIN EN ISO 50001:2011 (Energy Management) have successfully
been completed.
Introduction of QR-Code
In order to increase the security of certificates and also as service for our customers, all
certificates have been issued with QR-code since March 2013. QR codes are small data
memories that can hold text up to half an A4 page. The information is encoded in a pattern of
light and dark spots. The QR code can be scanned with a smartphone and the appropriate
application and then leads the user directly to the relevant company entry in our database.

Future prospects in 2014
For the year 2014 further expansion of the locations in Middle East are planned and
expansion in existing countries, especially for the working range of the data centers.
Successive in all countries all services of TÜV INTERCERT GmbH – Group of TÜV Saarland
should be fully available.
An additional strategic approach to strengthening the local sites will be local accreditation in
their respective countries.
