equipment or protective system in accordance to the directive 94/9/EC. Further requirements of the Directive
apply to the manufacturing process and supply of this equipment or protective system. These are not
covered by this certificate.

Description of Equipment or Protective System:
The DuraStep Valve Actuators are industrial rotary (1/4-turn) actuators that can be
direct coupled to Maxon control valves or burner assemblies. In addition, it will be
offered with standalone valve adapter hardware for direct coupling or with linkage to
3rd-party valves and dampers. All models would utilize the basic drive train,
feedback, and control concepts developed for the existing Maxon SmartFire,
SMARTLINK CV and MRV actuator. The actuators can be provided with or without a
display and keypad.
The xx...x within the model number refers to variables (i.e. valve size, valve type, flow
capacity, valve body material, valve body connection, etc.) not affecting certification.
The DuraStep Valve Actuator will be labeled as a SMARTLINK DS (DS standing for
DuraStep) followed by the model number. The actuator complies with the
environmental requirements of IP67.
Operation Temperature Ranges:
The ambient operating temperature range of the DuraStep Actuator is -40°C to 70°C.
Electrical data:
Vin = 24 Vdc +5% (optional 100-240 VAC +10%, 50/60 Hz power supply);
Iin = 1.1 A max (0.3 A @100 VAC)
Pin = 17 W (19 W with AC power supply)
4…20 mA interface.

and assessed in the confidential report identified in item 8.

Test and Assessment Procedure and Conditions:
This Type Examination Certificate is the result of testing of a sample of the product submitted, in
accordance with the provisions of the relevant specific standard(s), and assessment of supporting
documentation. It does not imply an assessment of the whole production.
Whilst this certificate may be used in support of a manufacturer’s claim for CE Marking, FM Approvals Ltd
accepts no responsibility for the compliance of the equipment against all applicable Directives in all
applications.
This Certificate has been issued in accordance with FM Approvals Ltd’s ATEX Certification Scheme.
