TAKE A STAND FOR THE UNBORN – LIFE CHAIN
.
Sunday, October 5th, 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Please join thousands of pro-lifers in more than l,400 cities
in the U.S. and Canada in the National Life Chain. Life Chain is
a silent prayer vigil by Christians to communicate their
opposition to abortion. Life Chain is not political nor
confrontational. Participants prayerfully display signs which
state the truth about abortion, and offer alternatives to killing. It
is an opportunity for local churches to unite in prayer and inform
our community about the unconscionable killing of unborn
babies. We will stand (20 feet apart) with over 30 other
churches along Rt. 192 from the Melbourne Causeway to West
o f Wickham/Minton Road. (about 5 miles). L i f e Chain is
one of the nation’s largest pro-life events. Everyone who
believes in the protection of unborn children and their mothers
is invited to participate:
Immaculate Conception will meet along U.S. 192 about 1/2
mile West of the Melbourne Square Mall at Pentecostal
Lighthouse C h u r c h . Signs and parking will be available
there. The event will be prayerful, safe, peaceful, and legal. You
may bring chairs, strollers, umbrellas, sunscreen and water.
A l l ages are welcome. Come rain or shine!

Feastday: October 9, Patron of Pharmacists, Birth: 1541, Death: 1609
John Leonardi was born in Diecimo, Italy. He became a
pharmacist’s assistant at Lucca, studied for the priesthood, and
was ordained in 1572.
He gathered a group of laymen about him to work in hospitals
and prisons, became interested in the reforms proposed by the
Council of Trent, and proposed a new congregation of secular
priests. Great opposition to his proposal developed, but in
1583, his association (Clerks Regular of the Mother of God in
1621) was recognized by the Bishop of Lucca with the approval
of Pope Gregory XIII. John was aided by St. Philip Neri and St.
Joseph Calasanctius, and in 1595, the congregation was
confirmed by Pope Clement VIII.
He died in Rome on October 9th of plague contracted while
he was ministering to the stricken. He was venerated for his
miracles and religious fervor and is considered one of the
founders of the College for the Propagation of the Faith. He
was canonized in 1938 by Pope Pius XI.
