Member Testimonials
"I joined SPP 8 years ago as an undergraduate student, and have continued to be amazed at SPP’s
focus on students. SPP supports students through specialized programming at the Society of
Pediatric Psychology Annual Conference, academically through the newsletter and journal
subscriptions, financially through the provision of grants and awards, and developmentally through
their focus on your growth as a professional. My membership has allowed me access to all of these
great benefits, while facilitating the establishment of strong relationships with other professionals I
look forward to seeing every year at the annual conference."
- Jennifer Lee
Graduate Student, University of Georgia
“Membership in the Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP) has great value to individuals, regardless
of their experience level. As members of SPP, students and early career psychologists benefit from
networking, formal mentoring programs (e.g., editorial reviews for the Journal of Pediatric Psychology),
and grant awards, while more senior pediatric psychologists enjoy an opportunity to provide
mentoring, collaborate with colleagues, and receive recognition for their contributions to the Society
and field (e.g., annual research award). Indeed, our Society's strong sense of collegiality and support
is epitomized by feeling a sense of having a "reunion" each year at our annual conference. SPP serves
not only as a professional "home" for its members, but also a place where friendships are made at the
same time that lines of research are energized!”
- Christina L. Duncan, PhD
Associate Professor & Area Coordinator
Department of Psychology, West Virginia University
“I appreciate the balance between research and practice that Div. 54 embodies. The division provides
a wonderful model of how to integrate science and practice, emphasizing the synergy that results
when science and practice work together. Also, in this era of health care reform and with the
implementation of the Affordable Care Act, Div. 54 has been invaluable in illustrating the
contributions of psychologists within the overall healthcare system. All of this is done within an
environment that emphasizes mentorship and collegiality. “
- Jennifer Shroff Pendley, PhD
Co-Director of Behavioral Health
Chief Psychologist, duPont Hospital for Children
