K.L.Nagaswamy Memorial Polytechnic College is a Self
Financing Polytechnic, established in the year 1983 and
founded by Amarar. Thiru. K.L.N. Krishnan an
Industrialist, Philanthropist and Educationalist. It has
been approved by AICTE, New Delhi and Directorate of
Technical Education, Chennai. Our Polytechnic College
is situated at Kozhimedu, Viraganoor P.O. just 3 kms
away from the city of Madurai on the Madurai Rameshwaram Highways. Ours is the most outstanding
institution of all the self financing Polytechnic Colleges
in the southern region of Tamil Nadu.

About the Department
Our Civil Engineering Department was established in
the year 1983 from the inception of our Institution.
Quality Engineering Education is given through well
equipped laboratory facilities, collaborative ventures
with Industries and by effective teaching learning
process. Guest Lectures are arranged frequently inviting
experts from Industries. The department has always been
on a progressive path as it aims to produce globally

To Create awareness about the National Waterways to
get water for drinking and Irrigation purposes.
To explore innovative methods and advance
technology to network the rivers.
To Provide water and power by smart waterways.
To discuss about the hurdles in the implementation of
the scheme.
Theme :
The Seminar is aimed to focus the ideas to implement
the National Waterways scheme. National waterways
scheme suggest waterways connecting the entire Nation
just like National Highways. Three routes are proposed
in the scheme from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
The Himalayan Waterways (From west to east on the
northern side)
The Central Waterways.
The Southern waterways. (upto kanyakumari)
The waterways provide very cheap and economical
transporting system for various goods. The waterways
will act as a long Reservoir and check dam. So flood will
be greatly controlled and the drought areas will get
water. The technical aspects will be focused in the
seminar in detail.
