ASSET LIABILITY MANAGEMENT (ALCO) TRAINING SERIES
Unless your bank already has this kind of expertise within your non-executive Board ALCO members, education is needed to
address this issue. We have heard accounts of regulators asking to speak with one of your Board ALCO members without Senior
Management present. Would your Board member be ready for that meeting?
Bank Director Education, in conjunction with KPN Consulting, is proud to present an Asset Liability Management webinar series
designed specifically for Community Bank Boards & Senior Management. Your institution will be provided with (5) 30-minute
training sessions delivered to you via webinar programs, which will allow you the option of training your Board at your monthly
Board Meeting or allow them the ability to learn on their own schedule.
Session # 1: Liquidity Risk Management
This session will describe the updated regulatory guidance and include a sample Contingency Funding Plan and Wholesale Funding Report
which we believe provide the framework for banks to lay out their strategies for this most important risk factor.
Session # 2: Funds Management
This session will discuss why we believe the debate about the use of brokered deposits misses the point and why this debate could have been
avoided altogether if institutions had fully described their wholesale/non-core funding strategies. Some key items that will be covered include
Retail vs. Wholesale Funding, Elements of a Sound Wholesale Funding Strategy, Limit Setting on Wholesale Funding Sources, and Key Funding
Sources.
Session # 3: Interest Rate Risk Management
This session will focus on Simulation Analysis as the critical tool for evaluating interest rate risk in the coming era. Some key items that will be
covered include GAP Analysis and its relevance today, Simulation, Setting Limits on NII & EVE, and what your Board must know.
Session # 4: Investment Risk Management
Whether your objective is Liquidity or Yield, this session will provide guidance as to what factors must be provided in this section of your ALCO
policy. We will cover the Key Components, Setting Limits on Investment options, the IRR Relationship, & Understanding your Vendors.
Session # 5: Capital Management
This session is designed to provide a description of the various elements required in a strong Capital strategy.
