Born in Bardejov in 1929 Died in Matthausen, October 1943 your wisdom your support of jewish causes is our continuous inspiration Lidia Gold was born in Bardejov in 1930 and attended the local school until the deportation. She spent the first years of the war in hiding. She was caught by the Halinka Guard in 1944 and was sent to Bergen Belzen, where she met Thomas Berger, a native of Bratislava. They were liberated by the British Army in 1945, got married and immigrated to the Untied States in 1947. She studied at the New York Art School and had several exhibitions. One of her paintings decorates the entrance lobby of the Holocaust Museum in Houston. Thomas, who was a successful business man, retired in 2010. Since then he has been volunteering in local schools, telling his survival story and accompanying high school groups to the March of the Living in Poland.
