NOTICE OF AN ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE OLD DALIAN
UNION HELD IN THE GOUVERNEUR CENTRE, DALE COLLEGE ON
THURSDAY, 15 MAY 2014 AT 18H00

1. WELCOME
National President, Stuart Lustgarten in the Chair welcomed all the members
to the AGM and to Reunion 2014. He thanked everyone for taking the time to
attend the AGM.

5. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES
Minutes from the 2013 AGM were tabled and Mr Peter Minnie confirmed them
as true.
5. MATTERS ARISING
Under General, point 10. Barry Turner had reported back that there was
nothing preventing Old Dalian’s who live outside of the Amathole District from
becoming members of the Executive. We have had presidents from outside
KWT who were members and president of the Union. The electronic age
allows this.

Mr Shaun Haselau gave a detailed account on the Audited Finances of the
ODU in the period for the period May 2013 – May 2014. The financial report is
available from the ODU office.
The Old Dalian Union no longer owes anything to the Dale College Hostels’
Trust.
7. ELECTION OF OFFICE BEARERS
7.1 President
Proposed: The Executive proposed Mr Stuart Lustgarten for a second
consecutive term.
Seconded: Unanimous
7.2 Senior Vice President
Proposed: The Executive proposed, Mr Anele Valela.
Seconded: Dr Paul Smit and Mr Jack Rosenberg
7.3 Junior Vice President
Proposed: The Executive proposed, Mr Neville McLean.
Seconded: Mr Shaun Haselau and Mr Chow Bissell
7.4 Honorary Secretary
Proposed: The Executive proposed, Mr Anele Valela.
Seconded: Mr Peter Minnie
7.5 Honorary Treasurer
Proposed: The Executive proposed Mr Shaun Haselau

7.6 Committee Members
The members of the Executive will remain the same as last year.

Mr Stuart Lustgarten proposed the addition of Mr Gareth Krause (Headboy
1999) and Aviwe Mafu (2006) to the Executive. Seconded: Mr Peter Minnie.
8. REUNION 2014
The President read out the program as from Thursday, 15 May to Saturday,
17 May, and highlighted the main activities:

Saturday, 17 May 2014:

9.
GENERAL
9.1 The EL Branch commended the Executive particularly the outgoing,
Executive in the way it handles the affairs of the Union. You are all worthy of
great praise.
9.2 Mr Barry Turner proposed that the Union should co-opt former and
current SGB members into the Executive Committee of the ODU, provided
they are Old Dalians and members of the ODU. Mr Peter Minnie seconded,
special circumstances can confer to subject to motivation from the ODU
Executive Committee.
9.4 Mr Mike Eddy said from school point of view, thank you very much
for the gesture of the ODU with the revamping of the Frank Joubert driveway.
9.5 Mr Stuart Lustgarten thanked the Executive for their commitment
and hard work. He thanked all present for being part of the meeting and
wished them well for the weekend.
