Description
Solseal Liquid Asphaltic Coating (LAC) is a liquid applied coating which when cured, forms an impermeable water and water
vapour proof membrane. Solseal LAC is typically used as a damp proof membrane to ground floors, as a vapour barrier behind
cladding and for tanking of basements. It is also suitable for waterproofing foundation walls, ducts, lintels, columns, beams and
similar structures at, above and below ground level.

Solseal LAC may also be applied to the internal face of external walls above ground level to prevent the penetration
of moisture. The membrane can then be plastered when dry.
Solseal LAC may also be used to provide a barrier to Radon Gas.
Solseal LAC should not be used in contact with potable water systems.
Solseal LAC will accommodate a degree of substrate movement although it is essential that the supporting substrate
is sound and stable.
It can be applied to: Concrete, Masonry, Ferous Metal, Lead, Copper, Timber,
Felt, Asphalt & Bitumen. When designing Type A structures (as classified in
BS 8102 : 2009) the product applied correctly is capable of providing levels of
protection required for Grades 1, 2, & 3 basements.
Specification
J30 - Liquid Applied Tanking/Damp Proofing in accordance with NBS Clauses.
Installation
Solseal LAC is applied 2 coats. It is immediately impervious to water and
when fully protected and subjected to normal service conditions, will provide
an effective barrier to the transmission of liquid water and water vapour for the
design life of the structure in which it is incorporated.
New concrete, screed or render should have a brushed or wood float finish,
and should be free from contamination by any material which could impair
adhesion. All surface defects should be repaired by approved methods.
Protrusions greater than 3mm should be removed.
Existing concrete, screed or render should be well prepared to provide a
dense, defect free substrate. Brickwork, blockwork and masonry should be
flush pointed. Steelwork, should be degreased and then abraided prior to
application.
All substrates should be dry. Application temperature between +5°C and
+35°C. For all practical purposes Solseal LAC is impervious to moisture, and it
is therefore essential to take account of any vapour drive within a structure, its
use and circumstances.

Application:
Apply using a wide nylon brush, sheepskin disposable rollers or airless spray. The product must not be applied in wet
or freezing conditions or if these conditions are likely to occur before the membrane has dried. Solseal LAC should be
applied as supplied, however, under certain circumstances such as cold weather conditions, it may be necessary to
add up to 10% white spirit to ease application.
Solseal LAC should be applied in two coats at a minimum application rate of 1m² / litre for the first coat and 2m² / litre
for the second coat, unless noted otherwise. Do not pour the material onto the substrate or allow it to pool in serrations
or depressions.
Under no circumstances must the liquid be heated or sanded. The coating is not designed for external exposed use,
and must be protected from the effects of U.V. light within 28 days of application. Normal recoat time is 12 to 24 hours.
Clean tools using white spirit.
Safety
Solseal LAC is flammable and should be used in well-ventilated areas away from sources if ignition. The product can
effect sensitive skins. Gloves or barrier cream should always be used by operatives and hands thoroughly washed at
the end of each working period. Do not allow the product to enter watercourses. Full health and safety instructions are
contained onthe product material safety data sheets, and these must be referred to before use.
Solseal Waterproof System Ancilliaries
Solcem Solklens is a specially formulated solvent for cleaning resin
products from tools and equipment before the resin has hardened, and
for removing any residual release agent from formwork.
Must not be used as thinners.
SOLCO
Soldrain Double Soldrain Double can be used as a protective barrier
between the structure and the surrounding fill and act as a protective
layer to the primary waterproofing membranes. Soldrain Double relieves
the hydrostatic pressure by channeling the ground water away from the
structural waterproofing, protecting the structure.
