We modified the 3 grabs from land based excavator systems, which gives us the knowledge that
they have been extensively tried and tested ensuring that they can operate in the most extreme
and harshest of working environments.
The MFE has also been well proven in offshore operations. A non-contact dredger that is
proficient at clearing sediment without causing damage to subsea structures.
Heavy duty lighting and camera mountings are fitted onto each of the tools as well as the UT
ROV giving the operator specific and general views to carry out his work safely and effectively.

The Shear Grab is specifically used for
subsea demolition. 2 interchangeable
frames have been designed. Frame 1 to
allow the operating angle of the grab to be
remotely changed between horizontal and
vertical. Frame 2 to mount the grab on its
side enabling it to cut vertical stations.

MFE
The Clam Shell Grab is used for bulk
material handling operations. Teeth can
be fitted to the grab to give it extra
penetration into dense material.
The MFE was developed for non-contact dredging
operations, providing an efficient method of
clearing sediment from subsea structures without
damaging the structures themselves.
The clamshell grab has been used for
cargo removal, specifically bulk loose
material such as grain & flour.
Due to the large hydraulic flow requirement MFE’s
are generally powered directly from the surface,
the loss of hydraulic power in the hoses makes this
very inefficient and not suitable for deeper water
operations. The UT ROV eliminates this problem.
