University / Industry Start-up Nexus
This active UIDP project considers the who, when, why and how of interacting at the
fluid nexus of multiple parties; Industry, Academia, government agencies and start-ups
that have a non-trivial link to the university (through intellectual property, incubation,
use of university resources, supportive sponsored research, etc.). The objective of the
primer is to educate the parties in the collaboration by identifying strategies for
successful collaboration. The participants from each party and their motivations will be
discussed so as to set the expectations for the modes of interaction. The regulatory
issues and financial environment at this nexus as well as the metrics used to determine

contributors will discuss the status of a "primer" document in preparation for use to the
general UIDP membership.
