CATECHISM CORNER:
Day 289 - Why should we thank God?
Everything that we are and have comes
from God. Paul says, "What have you
that you did not receive?" (1 Cor 4:7).
Being grateful to God, the giver of all
good things, makes you happy. The
greatest prayer of thanks is the
"Eucharist" ("thanksgiving" in Greek)
of Jesus, in which He takes bread and
wine so as to offer in them to God all of
creation, transformed. Whenever
Christians give thanks, they are joining
in Jesus' great prayer of thanksgiving.
For we, too, are transformed and redeemed by Jesus, and so from the
depths of our hearts we can be grateful
and tell God this in a variety of ways.

POPE’S PRAYER INTENTIONS
Lonely people. That all who suffer
loneliness may experience the closeness of God and the support of others.
Mentors of seminarians and religious. That young seminarians and
religious may have wise and wellformed mentors.
November 23rd – Christ the King
MATHEW 25: 31 – 46: Self-Giving
Love for The Least of These
Jesus’ story of the Last Judgment tells
us of our need to be stewards of ‘the
least of these’. Truly it is most of God’s
children who are hungry, naked, thirsty,
sick, and imprisoned, not the least of
them. These are the majority of humankind, and they make up somewhere
between half and two-thirds of God’s
children. The word least might refer to
our attitudes towards our possessions.
We live in a culture that says,
“Everything I possess is the least I
should have and I am certainly entitled
to more!” Why are so many millions in
our world still among ‘the least of these’
when God has provided so much abundance for us all? The answer is obvious… God’s abundance is not being
shared. This Christmas season, and indeed all year, it would be wise for the
Catholic today to ask themselves, ‘What
do I own and What Owns Me?’ Blessed
Mother Teresa beautifully described the
Christian steward…

nature: It prepares us for
Christmas, when we recall

CATECHISM CORNER:
Day 289 - Why should we thank God?
Everything that we are and have comes
from God. Paul says, "What have you
that you did not receive?" (1 Cor 4:7).
Being grateful to God, the giver of all
good things, makes you happy. The
greatest prayer of thanks is the
"Eucharist" ("thanksgiving" in Greek)
of Jesus, in which He takes bread and
wine so as to offer in them to God all of
creation, transformed. Whenever
Christians give thanks, they are joining
in Jesus' great prayer of thanksgiving.
For we, too, are transformed and redeemed by Jesus, and so from the
depths of our hearts we can be grateful
and tell God this in a variety of ways.

needs and role in evangelization, the
members of the Canadian catholic Aboriginal Council wish to honour elders
who helped them develop their own
faith. They have posted some reflections
from these elders in this year’s message
for the Day of Prayer, which can be
download from the www.cccb.ca site.
