Biography:
David Boyko, M.D. is a globally recognized expert in the development and
commercialization of medicines. He advises investors and senior leaders in the
Biopharmaceutical and Contract Research Industries on strategic and organizational
issues. Until recently David was the Senior Vice President of Global Medical Affairs, Life
Cycle Management and Pharmacovigilance at Bristol-Myers Squibb. In this role, David
was responsible for Global Medical Affairs activities, Life Cycle Strategy, Global
Pharmacovigilance, Epidemiology and Outcomes Research in support of Drug
Development & Commercialization, including Risk Management and addressing the Payor
perspective. In addition, he was responsible for all R&D activities in Japan and played a
key leadership role in Global Medical Governance through Co-Chairing the Medical
Review Group (MRG) responsible for risk/benefit evaluation of all BMS assets and
Chairing the Global Medical Board (GMB) where medical policy and standards are set.
Prior to joining Bristol-Myers Squibb David was the Senior Vice President, Clinical
Development and Medical Affairs-North America for GlaxoSmithKline. In his role he was
responsible for developing and implementing global clinical development plans as well as
providing the full range of medical affairs support for the North American commercial
operations. In an Industry career spanning over twenty five years in the UK and US, David
held Senior Country, Regional and Global roles in R&D as well as Commercial
Operations. While at Glaxo Wellcome he served as the Vice President, US Medical Affairs
where he was charged with supporting all US product commercialization and life cycle
management activities from an R&D perspective. During his tenure at SmithKline
Beecham, David held positions that required a focus on the science and marketing
partnership including leadership positions in Worldwide Strategic Product Development,
Medical Affairs, Outcomes Research Management & Health Care Services . Prior to
joining SmithKline Beecham, David held the roles of Global Head of CNS Therapeutic
Area and UK Medical Director at Zeneca Pharmaceuticals. Before joining the
pharmaceutical industry in 1984 David was a staff physician in Internal Medicine at
Aberdeen Teaching Hospitals in Scotland.
