Full Accreditation Process
Glossary
• Full Accreditation: an assessment exercise carried out
by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
• Academic Review; one of HWU's periodic review
processes for assuring and enhancing the quality and
standards of programmes.
• Academic Review (Malaysia): the Academic Review
process at the Malaysia campus. This is tailored to
suit the needs of HWUM and the MQA, but will
articulate with the HWU full Academic Review process
• QSC: Quality and Standards Committee

Academic Review (Malaysia):
• Assesses quality and standards.
• Operates on a yearly (initial review) and 3 yearly cycle
(subsequent reviews).
• Reviews all academic provision at the programme level.
• Is based on a Reflective Analysis document.
• Considers students' learning experience (UG, PGT) at the
Malaysia campus.
• Focuses on enhancement, including alignment with the
University's Learning and Teaching Strategy.
• Is undertaken by a review team consisting of the Deputy
Principal (Learning and Teaching) and a senior member of
Academic Registry.
• Reports to QSC, LTB, Senate, University Executive.
Full Accreditation:
• Granted by the MQA, normally before the first cohort of
students graduate.
• The full accreditation application must be submitted to the
MQA either before students begin the last semester of the
programme or if there is a dissertation, 3 months before
the final draft of the dissertation is available
• The MQA will carry out an audit visit as part of the full
accreditation process.
• The MQA timeline for full accreditation is approximately 24
weeks.
• Following full accreditation of each programme, the
University will carry out a self-review exercise every 1-3
years - 'Academic Review (Malaysia)'.

Dates/Timelines
• Full Accreditation timelines are established for each
programme/set of programmes
• Deputy Principal (Learning+Teaching) and HWUM team
agree the date for the Academic Review (Malaysia)
Preparation of MQA documentation
• HWUM completes the MQA accreditation
documentation (MQA-02) in collaboration with Registry
and the School.
Reflective Analysis
• HWUM completes the Reflective Analysis and submits to
Academic Registry
Academic Review Event
• Review held for each School
Review Report
• Report produced by review team + sent to School and
HWUM to check for factual accuracy
• HWUM/School submits response and action plan
Committee Approval
• Report and action plan sent to the Academic Council
(Malaysia) for comment/endorsement
• Report, response + action plan sent to QSC for approval,
then submitted to Senate, University Executive and
Academic Council (Malaysia) for information
Submission April
of documentation to MQA
• The Academic Review Report informs the production
of the MQA Self –Review Report (HWUM in collaboration
with School).
• HWUM/ School/Registry finalises MQA-02 and submits
along with the Self-Review Report to the MQA
Before MQA Evaluation Visit
• HWU/HWUM and MQA agree date for MQA Evaluation
Visit
• MQA advises HWUM of the Panel of Assessors (POA), the
required documents and the visit schedule
MQA Evaluation Visit
• Visit held over 1.5-2 days depending on agreed scope
• The POA chairman provides an oral report at the exit
meeting. HWUM can seek clarification on points raised
After the MQA Evaluation Visit
• The POA chairman sends panel report to the MQA
• The MQA sends the final Evaluation Report to HWUM
• The MQA reviews the programme (s) at the MQA
accreditation meeting and then grants approval with
or without conditions. HWUM responds to any
conditions and Full Accreditation is granted.

Conclusion
• HWUM/School submits progress report on actions to
QSC
