What is a stroke?
A stroke is a condition where a blood clot or ruptured
blood vessel interrupts blood flow to an area of the brain.
A lack of blood flow carrying oxygen and nutrients leads
to the death of brain cells in this part of the brain.
Dependent on where in the brain this is, an impairment
can occur in how a person moves, thinks or feels e.g.
paralysis of a limb, lack of speech, memory problems or
difficulty planning and carrying out tasks.
