BA, NPQH 18th September 2014 YEAR 9 VISIT TO THE LOIRE VALLEY, FRANCE (July 2015) Dear Parent/Guardian, I am delighted to be able to offer your child the opportunity to take part in a visit in July 2015, to the beautiful Loire Valley in the West of France. The trip will enable your child to practise their language skills in preparation for the GCSE speaking examinations and also to discover one of the most beautiful and historical French areas. We shall be departing in the early morning of Monday 13th July and returning on Friday 17th July in the evening. We shall be staying in a hotel around Poitiers. The excursions will include visits to a monkey park, a French market and a treetop adventure park. We shall also go to a typical French area in La Rochelle, full of family run shops and boutiques where pupils may enjoy some free time to do some shopping after visiting the Aquarium. Finally, we shall also be spending a day at the famous Futuroscope theme park followed by a stunning musical fairytale with lasers and special effects in the evening. The maximum cost of the visit will be approximately £460 but this is likely to be lower depending on the number of students. The exact price will be confirmed once we have final numbers. The cost will include the transport by coach & Eurotunnel, accommodation for four nights with breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as all entry fees and the insurance cover. Students will only need to bring additional money to purchase any souvenirs they wish to buy but they won’t need to pay for anything else. If insufficient contributions are received, it could prove necessary to cancel the trip. A meeting will be arranged at a later date, to discuss the trip and pass on information relating to itineraries, timing and general information. This will also be an opportunity for you to meet the staff attending the trip, and to raise any queries you may have. We will obviously expect our normal very high standards of behaviour from students on such a trip. Any student whose behaviour gives us cause for concern in the weeks prior to this trip will not be allowed to participate and they will forfeit any money paid. If a student’s behaviour is unsatisfactory during the trip, they will be sent back home and any additional costs incurred will be the responsibility of the parents I hope that you will consider permitting your son/daughter to take part in this trip. In order to ensure that the prices remain as low as they are at present, we need to book as soon as possible. If you wish to reserve a place on the trip, please complete the reply slip below and return it with a cheque of £80 (which is not refundable unless the trip is cancelled) & the parental consent form. Cheques should be made payable to EAST BARNET SCHOOL. These should be returned to the finance office by Monday 29th September, in a clearly marked envelope with your child's name, form and Trip to the Loire Valley on the front. Please note that if a student withdraws from the trip for any reason that is not covered by the insurance policy, any monies paid will be forfeited.
