NTH Awards 2013 • Award of Merit for Engineering: American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan (ACEC/Michigan) awards NTH Consultants, Ltd for its outstanding effort on the NSO Bell Building Renovation. 2012 • Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award: Lehigh Valley Section of American Society of Civil Engineers recognized NTH Consultants, Ltd as part of a team of professionals for the “21st Century Town Square/Levitt Pavilion,” Bethlehem, PA. In 2011, the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority opened its $22 million state-of-theart Public Dock & Terminal on the Detroit River. This 21,000-square-foot public terminal facility and 250-foot offshore wharf can accommodate vessels of various sizes including cruise ships. • Engineering Honorable Conceptor Award: American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan (ACEC/Michigan) awards NTH Consultants, Ltd for its outstanding effort on the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority Public Dock and Terminal. Providing engineering services, NTH Consultants, Ltd. partnered with various stakeholders to develop this former industrial site along the Detroit River. Despite numerous challenges to develop a deep-water port, extensive cooperation with adjacent property and utility owners, the City of Detroit, Wayne County, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy and other stakeholders in the reclamation of the Detroit Riverfront made this project a success. • ACEC/M Engineering & Surveying Excellence Awards, Award of Merit for Engineering: Oakland Macomb Interceptor Drain project. • Innovation and Excellence Award: Michigan Association of County Drain Commissions (MACDC) for work on the Oakland-Macomb Interceptor Drain Segment 1-Contract Nos. 1 and 2. 2011 • Project of the Year for Rehabilitation, Honorable Mention Award: Presented by Trenchless Technology for the Middlebelt Sinkhole • Engineer of the Year: Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) recognizes Keith M. Swaffar, P.E. for his outstanding leadership, achievements, and contributions to engineering, professionalism, and community service. • Award of Merit for Engineering: American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan (ACEC/Michigan), awards NTH Consultants, Ltd for its North Gratiot Interceptor - Phase I Project. 2010 • Award of Merit for Engineering: American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan (ACEC/Michigan), awards NTH Consultants, Ltd for its efforts in protecting and revitalizing North America’s only international wildlife refuge: The Mission to Save Humbug Marsh. 2009 Ford Land’s vision of converting a 240-acre, industrial landfill into a one-million square foot development became a reality with the expertise and innovation of a team of engineers. An environmentally friendly development, Fairlane Green was constructed with recycled materials and equipped with high efficiency heating and cooling, systems and skylights. • Award of Merit: International Concrete Repair Institute awards NTH Consultants, Ltd for its Preventative Repairs to a Large Diameter Interceptor Sewer. • ACEC National Finalist: NTH achieved prestigious National Finalist status in ACEC’s 43rd annual Engineering Excellence Awards competition for developing the Detroit River International Crossing Study for the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). The project team used an innovative approach that involved thirteen 1,750-foot deep wells and cross-well seismic imaging which will benefit future projects by reducing costly and inappropriate techniques. • ACEC/M-MSPE Engineering & Surveying Excellence Awards, Engineering Honorable Conceptor Award: The Detroit River International Crossing. • Outstanding Individual Engineer in Private Practice Award: Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) honored NTH’s Christopher E. Campbell, P.E. by awarding him with an Outstanding Individual Engineer in Private Practice award. 2008 • Philadelphia Building of America Award: NTH was listed as a Building of America Team Member for the successful Episcopal Academy project in Real Estate & Construction Review. The project was considered “one of the region’s 50 most important, innovative or unique new construction or renovation projects.” NTH worked on the Chapel Building and was referred for the reward by the building’s project manager. • Outstanding Project of the Year Award: NTH was part of the Walnut Lake #1 Pump Station and Force Main Improvement Project led by Wade Trim. The Conner Creek CSO dredging program was undertaken to remove more than 140,000 cubic yards of existing sewage sediments from the creek that had accumulated from CSO discharges. • The National Phoenix Award for Excellence in Brownfield Development: NTH’s Fairlane Green receives the National Phoenix Award™ for excellence in brownfield redevelopment. The award winners represent outstanding brownfield projects from each of the ten U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regions. Once an idle landfill, Fairlane Green has been transformed into the Country’s largest retail development built on a landfill and the largest landfill redevelopment in the state of Michigan. 2007 • ACEC/M-MSPE Engineering & Surveying Excellence Awards, Engineering Honorable Conceptor Award: Conner Creek CSO Control Facility. • American Concrete Institute, National, Chapter Activities Award: The ACI Board of Directors recognizes Kenneth M. Lozen for his dedication to the ACI Greater Michigan Chapter and his promotion of concrete to the industry. Wh When a 40-foot 40 f deep d sinkhole i kh l developed over the Romeo Arm Interceptor in Sterling Heights, Michigan, a project team was assembled to stabilize the area, ensure wastewater service was not interrupted, and to permanently repair the damaged interceptor. Over a period of 291 days, the dedicated project team executed nearly $50 million of construction, prevented any damage to the environment, and completed a repair program which was expected to take 10 months to complete. • CWSRF Pisces Award, Dearborn CSO Control Program: Recognizing extraordinary successes of the States’ Clean Water Revolving Fund (CWSRF). The City of Dearborn, MI utilized an innovative treatment shaft design to treat and divert the CSO (combined sewer overflow). Total project costs were reduced by an estimated $150 million over the course of the planning efforts. 2006 • Michigan Civil Engineer, ASCE Q-O-L (Quality of Life) Award: Emergency Sinkhole! Romeo Arm Interceptor Reconstruction. NTH was recognized for developing a dewatering plan to reduce the inflow of groundwater and soil into the sewer. • ACEC/M-MSPE Engineering & Surveying Excellence Awards, Honorable Conceptor Award: Emergency Sinkhole! Romeo Arm Interceptor Reconstruction. • American Public Works Association Michigan Chapter, Project of the Year for Emergency Construction/Repair - $10 Million - $100 Million: Emergency Sinkhole! Romeo Arm Interceptor Reconstruction. • ESD Lifetime Achievement Award: The Engineering Society of Detroit acknowledges Jerome C. Neyer, P.E., FESD for his many contributions to the field of engineering and his noteworthy accomplishments throughout his career by bestowing him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. • Individual Engineering Excellence Award: Michigan Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) honored NTH’s Lawrence T.
