The weather reports are suggesting that this is going to be a heavy snowfall winter – yahoo! In order to take advantage of this, the school is offering a ski/board program for interested students in Grades 6 and 7 (If we have open spaces we will be offering this to Grade 5 students next). This year we will be travelling to Cypress Mountain to ski and snowboard on four afternoons. Provided we have enough interest, the tentative dates are Tuesday, Feb 3, 10, 17 and 24th. We leave right after school and return at 9:30 pm. The Cypress Ski School has specially designed programs that focus on skill development and safety while introducing students to the fun and excitement of winter sports. Students may choose from either downhill skiing or snowboarding. Downhill skiing and snowboarding are exciting and exhilarating winter activities. Skiers and riders enjoy increased fitness and confidence, and an appreciation for outdoor recreation. Each week, students will take a multi-hour downhill skiing/snowboarding lesson which is taught by certified, experienced instructors. Lessons are offered in a range of levels from beginner through to expert. Whether it is a student’s first time on snow, or they need to fine-tune advanced skills, lessons will meet their goals. After their lessons, our group will stay to enjoy the mountain for 2 additional hours. In order to move ahead with the planning, securing of lessons and transportation, it is necessary that students sign up asap. Forms will be sent home beginning next week which will need to be filled out and returned to the school by December 13th with payment. Remember that it is a first come, first serve opportunity. Band Concert This year, our Intermediate students will be performing in a Christmas Concert, Wednesday, December 3rd at 7:00 pm. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our parents, grandparents and family members to come enjoy an evening of special, joyful music!
