Requesting Your Film or Report
for Another Physician/Specialist
Our Process for Informing Your
Physician of Your MRI Exam
Results
•
•
Upon completion of dictating your radiology report, your MRI/MRA report
will automatically be faxed to your referring physician within 1 to 24 hours
following your exam.
The following morning after your MRI
exam, your report will either be
mailed or delivered along with your
images to your referring physician.
•
Many physicians do not require the
images (film/CD), only the radiology
report.
•
If your physician requires the images
as well as the report, he or she will
either access them through our webbased PACS (Picture Archiving Communications)system automatically.
Others require the images to be copied onto either large blue film, 8X10
high gloss photo film or a CD. We will
deliver these to your physician the following morning after your exam.
•
•
If you are going immediately after
your MRI exam to see your physician
and he/she requests your images, we
will be happy to print out your film or
copy the images onto CD for you to
bring with you.
If requested by your physician, our radiologist will call your physician with
the results of your exam.
•
Many physicians have access to our
PACs (Picture Archiving Communications) system and will access your images through that means.
•
Many times, the physician’s office will
call us to request the film or CD either
to be mailed or delivered to their office prior to your appointment.
•
If your physician asks you to obtain
your films or CD, please contact us at
337-984-2036 prior to your appointment, allowing 24-48 hours before you
either pick up the film or we deliver
the film/CD. Before calling us, please
check with your physician to see if they
already have the report/film or CD.
•
Because different kinds of physicians
require different forms of images, it is
important we confirm how they want
the images done either report only,
film or CD. Many physicians require
CDs so that they can load the images
onto their PACs System for viewing.
Others require film.
•
Please remember we always need advance notice for copying your images.
We do not store actual film in our center. All images are stored on our
PACs System and DVDs so we need
time to coordinate the copying of the
images.
•
We have stored images that date back
to July 2003 so in order for us to film
your images, we have to locate your
date of service and copy the images.
We appreciate your patience with this
process by allowing us 24 to 48 hours
to get this done.
Obtaining Copies of Your
Radiology Reports or CDs for your
own Medical Records.
•
The physician that orders your MRI
will automatically receive your results within 1 to 24 hours of your
MRI exam.
•
Following your MRI exam, your
physician will either call or meet
with you to review your results
with you.
•
After your physician receives your
radiology report and reviews it
with you, at your request, we will
be happy to provide you with a
copy of your report via mail, fax or
you can come by our center and
pick it up.
If You Are Asked to Return for
Additional Scans
•
Sometimes the radiologist may request
for you to return to obtain additional
scans in order to better interpret your
images. In this case, we will schedule
you to return as soon as possible to get
these additional images done. These
additional scans will be done at no
charge and part of the original charge
for the MRI unless a different MRI is
recommended.
•
In certain instances, the radiologist may
want to consult with your physician or
another specialist radiologist regarding
your images. In this case, the report
may take longer to be dictated.
