ART HOUSE MONDAY
CINEMA SERIES
The Art House Monday Cinema Series is a weekly event highlighting the many genres
of independent film. Past showings have included documentaries, indie films, limited
releases, and local productions.
ART AND CRAFT
Mark Landis has been called one of the most
prolific art forgers in US history. His impressive
body of work spans thirty years, covering a
wide range of painting styles and periods that
includes 15th Century Icons, Picasso, and even
Walt Disney. And while the copies could fetch
impressive sums on the open market, Landis
isn’t in it for money. Posing as a philanthropic
donor, a grieving executor of a family member’s
will, and most recently as a Jesuit priest, Landis
has given away hundreds of works over the
years to a staggering list of institutions across
the United States. But after duping Matthew
Leininger, a tenacious registrar who ultimately
discovers the decades-long ruse and sets
out to expose his philanthropic escapades to
the art world, Landis must confront his own
legacy and a chorus of museum professionals
clamoring for him to stop.
Not Rated. Contains nothing
objectionable. (1:39)
LITTLE ACCIDENTS
In a small American town still living in the
shadow of a terrible coal mine accident,
the disappearance of a teenage boy draws
together a surviving miner, the lonely wife
of a mine executive, and a local boy in a web
of secrets.
Not Rated. Contains strong language, brief
violence and sexual situations. (1:55)

TRACKS
Mia Wasikowska stars in the incredible true story of Robyn Davidson, a young
woman who undertook a perilous solos trek across 1,700 miles of stunning
Australian outback.
Abandoning city life, Robyn arrives in Alice Springs in 1977 and declares
her ambition to cross the desert to the Indian Ocean to the amusement of
the locals. However, after months of camping out and working on a camel
farm, people begin to take her seriously. A chance meeting with National
Geographic photographer Rick Smoland (Adam Driver) provides her with the
necessary financing for her expedition under the condition that he be allowed
to photograph parts of her journey for the magazine. With only her dog and
four unpredictable camels for company, she embarks on an inspiring and life
changing journey of self-discovery.
Rated PG-13 for thematic elements, some partial nudity, disturbing images and
brief strong language (2:00)
MANNY
From abject poverty to becoming a ten time boxing world champion and
history’s first boxing congressman, international icon Manny Pacquiao is the
definition of a Cinderella story. In the Philippines, he first entered the ring as a
sixteen year old weighing 98 pounds with the goal of earning money to feed
his family. Now, almost twenty years later, when he fights, the country of 100
million people comes to a complete standstill to watch. Today at the height of
his career, he is faced with maneuvering an unscrupulous sport and political
duties, while still maintaining a personal life. The question now is what bridge
is too far for Manny Pacquiao to cross?
Rated PG-13 for some sport violence/bloody images. (1:38)
CITIZENFOUR
ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE: BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM
In January 2013, filmmaker Laura Poitras was in the process of constructing
a film about abuses of national security in post-9/11 America when she
started receiving encrypted e-mails from someone identifying himself as
“citizen four,” who was ready to blow the whistle on the massive covert
surveillance programs run by the NSA and other intelligence agencies.
In June 2013, she and reporter Glenn Greenwald flew to Hong Kong for
the first of many meetings with the man who turned out to be Edward
Snowden. She brought her camera with her. The film that resulted from this
series of tense encounters is absolutely sui generis in the history of cinema:
a 100% real-life thriller unfolding minute by minute before our eyes.
Rated R for language. (2:02)
