Improving Children’s Learning
Assessing Learning Needs
Course Reference: 1511
Date: 3rd December 2014
10th December 2014
17th December 2014
Time: 15.30 – 17.30
Venue: Goldwyn School
Tutor: Clive Williams
The course is looking at assessing the various aspects of a pupils learning profile
and looking to understand their weaknesses and strengths.
The purpose is to look at ways of answering the question “Why does a pupil have a
particular learning issue” and not just identifying that they cannot do a certain task.
There are a number of assessments that we will be using but the course will look at
ways of using the existing resources that are already in a school rather than
encouraging the purchasing of extra resources.
We are looking to cater for experienced staff, to add on to existing knowledge and
give a more complete picture of the pupil. As with other courses this is designed to
be practical and feed directly into work in the classroom.
