OKC LAUNCES NEW APP TO HELP SOLVE
NEIGHBORHOOD PROBLEMS by Zach Nash
Oklahoma City officials recently launched a new mobile app that
makes it easier for residents to report code violations. The app, OKC
Gov, is available to download free on Android and Apple devices
from www.okc.gov/action or from the Android or Apple app stores.
With OKC Gov, residents can report code violations such as tall
grass and weeds, graffiti, potholes, yard parking, illegally placed
signs, park concerns and junk and debris. The app uses global
positioning to determine your location and allows you to take a photo
of the problem to submit with the report. The report will be sent to
the appropriate City department. You can also enter an address or
intersection to better help inspectors locate the violation.
“The app will help fulfill City Council’s priority to improve City
neighborhoods,” Mayor Cornett said. “The OKC Gov app is just one
more tool for residents to easily report code violations and beautify
their neighborhoods.”
OKC Gov also connects residents to information about City services.
Residents can read news releases, report missed trash, find a job,
adopt a pet, see the bus schedule, view the ward map, watch
Channel 20, and get disaster preparedness information. Residents
can also report code violations by logging on to okc.gov/action, by
emailing [email protected] or calling (405) 297-2535.
PLEASE DON'T FEED THE PIGEONS by Anne Zachritz
Many folks in Mesta Park are battling pigeons. Two pest control
companies who observed food put out for pigeons have said that we
will not solve this problem while the pigeons are being fed. They
damage property, and solutions are very expensive! Please do not
feed them. Thank you.
