If you have any questions your new contact will be Ian Dougan Great news is that we have almost cleared the backlog! We are now working with our internal teams to ensure we continue to deliver safe and secure cycle parking for all schools in London We are also looking at making the process more integrated and the forms simple. Cycle parking applications will be open in April once we have finalised discussions on delivery internally. Criteria: All schools who are accredited and would like new or additional cycle parking should apply Cycle parking audit will be undertaken this year to assess the future demand for parking. 29 Cycle Grants for Schools Cycle Grants for Schools • Applications for Cycle Grants will open early April (Date TBC) • Funding – all boroughs have been awarded funding via Borough Cycling Programme. There will be no additional money! • Criteria: all schools must fall within ½ mile of appropriate cycling infrastructure such as LCN route, greenways, off road cycle lanes. All school must be STARS accredited or working towards STARS. • Boroughs will need to select appropriate schools who meet this criteria and would benefit from this grant. Schools who were awarded cycle grants last year can apply for a top up grant (Max £500) • Applications will be sent to E&T – we will assess and approve them. Once this has been approved you will be able to make and application on the portal. Please note if we have not approved the application the school will not be eligible for the funding. • There will be no target/demand led grants. This is the only grant available to schools. 30 British Cycling 2014 Recreational Cycling Programme • British Cycling have worked with 17 partner boroughs in London, the 2014 approach, in partnership with TfL, is aimed at reaching as many Londoners as possible • Core element of the programme – There will be 200 Sky Ride Locals - which are free guided rides on risk assessed routes and led by qualified British Cycling Ride Leaders. The rides will run from April to October and are designed to: - introduce great places to ride - build confidence and fitness - encourage safe and responsible cycling • 2/3 of rides are open to all ages • 3 different ride levels – ‘easy’, ‘steady’ and ‘challenging’ • Rides searchable and bookable via goskyride.com/london – we are also integrating this with STARS webpage so schools can have a look at where their nearest ride is taking place British Cycling 2014 Recreational Cycling Programme • Breeze will be a key part of the programme and British Cycling’s network of London Breeze Champions will be supported and developed to lead ‘women only’ guided rides through the year • The ‘Social Cycling Groups’ social networking initiative will be ‘rebranded’ and officially launched later in the year offering opportunities for individuals or existing groups to ‘self organise‘ rides, to present them on the goskyride.com/london website and to be promoted alongside Breeze and Sky Ride Local rides • Action/Opportunities - I will circulate a spreadsheet of Sky Ride Local route and rides to enable co-ordination with local activity and to consider promotional opportunities.
