Dr. Peter Craig is the Program Manager for Electronic Warfare
(EW) at the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and is the leader of
the joint service EW Community of Interest (COI), the EW
Science and Technology governance body for the U.S.
Department of Defense. Dr. Craig manages the Electronic Warfare
Exploratory Research and Advanced Development programs for
the Office of Naval Research. Technologies encompassed by these
programs include survivability equipment for aircraft, ships, and
ground vehicles; situational awareness sensors covering the full
range of the electromagnetic spectrum; electronic attack systems
supporting Electromagnetic Maneuver Warfare (EMW) in the air,
ground, and maritime domains; and systems and techniques to
protect Navy electro-optical and radio frequency sensors from
hostile disruption and denial.
In January 2008, Dr. Craig was awarded the first ever Award for Outstanding Dedicated
Leadership in executing Future Naval Capabilities by the Chief of Naval Research Rear
Admiral William Landay III, USN.
In August 2014, Dr. Craig received the Goodell-Pollock Award for Distinguished Service from
the Military Sensing Symposia (MSS) Specialty Group on Electro-Optical & Infrared
Countermeasures (EO/IRCM), an annual award to honor individuals who have made significant
contributions to the EO/IRCM community.
Dr. Craig received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Wyoming
in 1978 and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Colorado (Boulder) in 1983. He has
been a civilian scientist for the U.S. Navy for over 30 years.
