Brian J.Taylor — High Voltage
USU Facilities is pleased to
announce Brian J. Taylor as the
Employee of the Month for April
2014.
Brian began working for
Facilities in 1999. He began in the
Electrical Shop for the first ten years
or so and is now part of the
Utilities Power crew at the Central
Energy Plant. Brian attended BATC
in their electrical apprenticeship
program, becoming a Journeyman
Electrician.
Matt
Rogers,
Electrical
Engineering
Technician
and
co-worker of Brian, has said, “Brian
is a hard worker and is always
bending over backwards to serve
Facilities customers. He is on the
High Voltage crew and continually
seeks for opportunities to stay busy,
helping on many small to mid sized
projects.
He responds to power
outages and makes himself available
at the drop of a hat. He is always
there to keep the power on or to
restore service.”
Daniel Ferris, Director of
Utility Services, has said, “Brian is
an excellent employee with an
amazing work ethic.
He is
constantly looking for work to do
and projects that he can help out
on. He never shies away from any
job and is always willing to go the
extra mile to make sure the
customer’s needs are taken care of.”
Brian was born and raised
in Dayton, ID and continues to live
there with his wife, Wendi, and
their three children: 7 year old
twins, Gid and Grace, and 5 year
old Halle.
Brian is the middle child
and has two brothers and three
sisters. His parents live in Dayton
and his siblings are scattered
throughout Utah and Idaho.
Brian and his family enjoy
camping during the summer months
and love to be outdoors every
chance they get. He also loves to
hunt, especially elk. In his spare
time, Brian is a volunteer fire
fighter with the Franklin County
Brian J. Taylor
Fire Department. He enjoys working with
the department and loves to help people any
way he can.
Congratulations on this welldeserved recognition, Brian! Utah State

Arbor Day, Friday, April 25 Founded in 1872, Na onal Arbor Day is celebrated every year on the last Friday in April. The customary observance is to plant a tree. On the first Arbor Day, April 10, 1872, an es mated one million trees were planted. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 The day on which individual income tax returns are due to the federal government. The term may also refer to the same day for states, even where the tax return due date is a different day. EARTH DAY — Tuesday, April 22
Ever wondered how Earth Day started?
This observance arose from an interest in
gathering national support for environmental issues.
In 1970, San Francisco activist John McConnell and
Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson separately asked
Americans to join in a grassroots demonstration.
McConnell chose the spring equinox (March 21, 1970) and
Nelson chose April 22. Millions of people participated,
and today Earth Day continues to be widely celebrated
with events on both dates. The most common practice of
celebration is to plant new trees for Earth Day.
