Application for admission 2015
We acknowledge receipt of your application for admission to the North-West University.
The application procedure
The application form can be printed, completed and sent to the University.
You may also apply on the web at the following address:

Please state your intended qualification in full on the application form,
(e.g. BCom Marketing Management or BA Humanities).
Required documents
Please note: all copies must be certified.




Certified copy of Identity document/passport;
Certified copies of PARENTS/GUARDIAN's identity document;
Certified copy of your grade 11 report and most recent available grade 12 report;
If you have already passed matric, a certified copy of your matric certificate if you intend to apply for
a degree/diploma;
Application fee:
Non-refundable application fee of R150 – South African citizens
Non-refundable application fee of R550 – Foreign applicants;
Accommodation deposit:
Refundable application fee of R500 (if you don't get a place in a residence or if you decide not to
stay in a residence);
2 ID-size photos.



Applications by Undergraduate students from other tertiary institutions
The following document must accompany the application form.

An academic record with a certificate of conduct and a financial report indicating that all your
obligations to the institution have been fulfilled, as issued by the registrar of the tertiary institution
where you were registered;


Matric certificate;
Application for subject recognition must be accompanied by a syllabus of the relevant modules.
Important notice




No application will be processed and/or considered if any of the above documents are
missing from the application.
All documents must be certified by a commissioner of oaths, attorney, or university
official.
Additional information may be required by die relevant faculty/school/unit.
The allocation of a university number does not necessarily mean that your application
for admission was successful.


Closing date for applications
Applications for admission for 2015 close on 30 September 2014. The University reserves the right to
change this date.
Selection courses
Applications for admission for 2015 selection courses close on 30 June 2014. Students are advised
to apply for admission as soon as possible, preferably before 31 May 2014. The closing date for
Graphic Design applications is 15 July 2014.
The selection courses consist of preliminary selection based on minimum admission requirements w.r.t.
subject requirements and the APS score obtained. Successful candidates are then subjected to a selection
test and in some case also a selection interview.

Medium of Instruction:
The language of instruction for full-time study at the Potchefstroom Campus is Afrikaans, unless stated
otherwise. Be aware of different faculty rules with regard to the evaluation of students’ language proficiency.
Note: The North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus) will, in the implementation of its functional
language plan, also take into account the linguistic realities of the country, and regards the different
languages spoken by stakeholders of the University as one of its assets.
