POLICY REGARDING MESSAGES
Deming High School Alma Mater
In an effort to have all class time dedicated to learning; parents and family members should limit phone messages to students for emergency situations only.
Texting or phone use by students is allowed before and after school, during
passing periods, and at lunch. Non-emergency messages concerning transportation, forgotten lunches, after-school appointments, etc. will be delivered to students between classes. Thank you for your continued commitment to our students educational success!
For the sake of Deming High School
STUDENT SAFETY
Deming High School observes open campus at lunch only. Additional staff will be
available to ensure students are in class and not out in the community during
class time. All parents need to ensure that their students are at school on time
and stay on campus during school hours. We are looking forward to ensuring
our students are meeting their full potential!
We will pledge our hearts anew.
Loyal sons and loyal daughters
Here we pledge our hearts to you.
We will carry on the banner
With the sword and with the pen.
For the sake of Deming High School
Here we pledge our hearts again.

Announcing a new student leadership organization at Deming High School, Visión de un Sueño. This group consists
of awesome students who exemplify leadership skills, outstanding values, and quality character. These students
maintain good grades and want to make a difference in their lives and in the lives of others.
Visión de un Sueño is preparing to attend La Cosecha, a dual language leadership conference in November. To
raise money for students to attend, we will be hosting a fundraiser on October 4 th at Pit Park across from
Starmax. Fiesta de Sueños is a fiesta including a dinner catered by Si Senor and DJ/dance. There will be folklórico and mariachi entertainment during the dinner. Students from Memorial Elementary and Deming High School
will be performing. There are even a couple of Ruben Torres teachers who have agreed to participate. The fiesta
begins at 4:30 with purchased dinner tickets and continues with a dance beginning at 7:00. Everyone is welcome to
come out and celebrate Visión de un Sueño and encourage our students. If you would like more information contact Mrs. Kristy Hays at Deming High School, 575-546-4863 EXT 2727.
TECHNOLOGY UPDATEDeming Public School’s Superintendent, Dr. Dan Lere, has stated
that it is his goal that every student at Deming High School have a
tablet or laptop computer to facilitate learning. Deming High
School is pleased to announce the
formation of the Technology for
All committee to begin this process. The committee’s objectives
are to identify which device will
best serve the needs of our students and how to prepare students
and staff to use these devices.
The committee has written the
following mission statement that
spells out the purpose of each student having access to their own
tablet or laptop.
“It is the mission of the Technology for All initiative to provide a
learning environment where students are empowered through real
-world technology to improve collaboration, communication, critical
thinking, creativity, and problem
solving skills.”
Future articles in this newsletter
will spell how we envision these
devices being used on a daily basis
and hopefully answer many of the
questions you may have. For comments or questions, contact committee chair Larry Martin at [email protected] or call
546-2678 ext. 2662.
