We like to give gratis bulbs as much as you like to receive them. All orders will receive a generous selection of
gratis bulbs, of additional bulbs of varieties ordered or of unique varieties not on this list; or, of both. Please
provide suggestions for what you like: varieties, colors, divisions, season of bloom, historics, etc., and we will
do our best to please.
Gratis Suggestions:
All bulbs were grown by PHS, in southeastern Illinois. They were hand dug and sun-cured for one day; airdried in crates for four weeks; and hot water treated (HWT) for 4 hours at 44.4C, in a 300 ppm NaOCl (sodium
hypochlorite) solution, as a preventative measure to control potentially harmful pathogens. A common first
year-result of HWT bulbs may be slightly stunted growth and misshapen flowers; conversely, they may have
steroidal growth and larger than normal flowers. This is often cultivar-specific. Please understand that the
first year's appearance is not indicative of their manifestation over the long term; they will "settle down".
All bulbs are guaranteed to be true to name. Don't forget: climate, weather, soil, and the flower's stage of
development all affect the flower's color; pinks may appear orange-yellow, reds may appear orange or
rimmed; and reverse bicolors and toned flowers may have an amber cast to the entirety of the flower. This is
perfectly normal.
