THE CHALLENGE
• To this day no experience how a human being will react to such extreme
physical & mental challenges
• 10.000 km of changing road conditions
& 80.000 m of total altitude difference
• Fight against sleep deprivation,
physical exhaustion, mental fatigue
• Extreme weather and climatic
conditions
• Permanent high performance needed to compete against time
• Pure adventure dealing with loneliness during the night and
heavy traffic during the day

• 10.000 km from East to West in approx. 24 days
• Most of the route is along the Transsiberian Railroad
• Crossing cities include: Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Chita, Ulan-Ude, Irkutsk,
Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Ekaterinburg, Perm, Kazan, Nizhniy
Novgorod, Moscow, Tver, Novgorod, St. Petersburg
• Geographical Features: Far East, South Siberian Mountains, Lake Baikal,
Central Siberian Mountains, Siberian Lowlands, Ural,
Central Russia
THE RACE FACTS
• Route: Vladivostok – Moscow - St.
Petersburg
• 10.000 km, 7 time zones, 80.000 m
difference in altitude, 24 days
• Start: 23rd of July 2014
• Modus: speed race with one biker
cycling 400 – 500 km a day without a day
of rest and ca. 3 ½ hours of sleep per day
• Team: 1 cyclist, 14 people in support
team & 4-5 cars
• A special Application (APP) for
smartphones (iPhone and Android) will
allow anyone to follow the cyclist round
the clock

• 14 people, 4-5 cars: drivers, navigators, mechanic, cook, masseur, doctor,
media and a PR team
• All support specialists are a team of experts chosen based on their
competencies and experience
• The management consists of an international team with extensive
experience and knowledge of Russia to organize everything locally
A SUCCESSFUL TRACK RECORD
• In 2013 Andreas Sachs with the
AusTriaTeam proved that the Route
Moscow -Vladivostok of 9208 km can be
tackled with speed bikes and set a new
world record with an official time of
13 days 2 hours 59 minutes.
• On the 1st of August the 4 cyclists set
out from Moscow’s Red Square.
• On the 14th of August at
approximately 2 pm local time the
AusTriaTeam arrived on the Russiky
Island in Vladivostok.
• Together the 4 cyclists (Andreas Sachs,
Robert Lang, Walter Zelenka, Michael
Strasser) crossed the
impressive Russki Bridge.
