and drinks at the visitor’s concession
stand during home football games.
Proceeds to be used for end of year
banquet, extra staff, replacement parts
for carts/racks, items/materials needed
for field show.
Culture Club – 10/27/14-11/21/14 –
Money will be collected in classrooms,
winning classroom will receive cookie
vouchers and teacher will receive lunch
voucher for cafeteria. Proceeds to be
used to purchase ShopRite gift cards,
and give them to in-district families for
Thanksgiving dinner.

o MS Scholarship Fund – 2/17/142/27/14 Sell “flying pigs” for $1 each
and hang them around the school.

o Curriculum Writing/Educational
Programs: Lisa Camp (Italian IA).
NEW CLUBS
 Tennis – MS students will meet ten times,
Mr. McIlhenney will serve as the intramural
coach.
 Baseball – MS students will meet ten times,
Mr. Hildebrand will serve as the intramural
coach.
 Lacrosse – MS students will meet ten times,
Ms. Bushong will serve as the intramural
coach.
 Odyssey of the Mind – MS students will
meet approximately 30 times to solve
challenging problems designed to test and
expand each student’s critical thinking and
problem solving skills. Ms. Ramsden and
Ms. Jones will serve as co-advisors.
 Robotics Club – MS students will meet 12
times as they learn the intricacies of
designing, building, and programming
robots with the goal of having them
perform various functions. Mr. McIlhenney
will serve as advisor.

Mathcounts – MS students will meet 12
times to solve complex math problems and
discuss the solutions to each problem. Mr.
Heil will serve as advisor.
Fashion Club – students can socialize with
like-minded fashion lovers, gain a greater
understanding of the industry. Mrs.
Calandro will serve as advisor.
Athletic Training Student Aides Club –
Students will gain valuable experience in a
real world clinical setting and enable them
to utilize skills and knowledge acquired in
the classroom. Mrs. Jaramillo will serve as
advisor.
Photography Club – students in all grade
levels will develop a deeper understanding
of photography and the skills needed to be
successful. Mr. Fiocco will serve as advisor.
EMERGENCY DRILLS/CALLS
 HS 06/09/14 – Fire evacuation drill
successfully completed with no issues from
1:45pm – 1:50pm.
 HS 06/13/14 – Fire alarm was triggered at
7:41am after routine chem lab
demonstration, which produced smoke
under the sensor. Fire dept. arrived at
8:02am, investigated and deemed there
was no danger. Students and staff were
able to return to classroom at 8:06am.
 HS 06/17/14 – Fire alarm was triggered at
3:35pm as a result of a minor issue with a
duct in the kitchen. Everyone present was
evacuated. Fire dept. investigated and
deemed there was no danger. At 3:50pm
students and staff were able to return to
the building.
 HS 06/23/14 – Fire alarm was triggered at
10:05am as a result of a paraprofessional
engaging in authorized cooking in the MD
program kitchen. All students and staff
evacuated. The fire dept. investigated and
deemed staff and students could return to
the building at 10:30am.

SCHOOL BUS EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILLS
 HS 06/04/14 – 9:00am EMS was called after
a thirty-seven year-old female employee
had a medical emergency in the
transportation building.
 HS 06/04/14 – 10:10am EMS was called
after a seventy-seven year-old male
employee had a medical emergency in the
Dragon’s Den Faculty Lounge.
 HS 06/04/14 – 11:30am EMS was called
after a twenty-three year-old female
employee had a medical emergency in the
Health Office.


BUSINESS, FACILITIES & FINANCE

The Board approved the Board Secretary’s
Report, Treasurer’s Report, Bill List, High
School Student Activities and Athletic
Reports, Middle School Activities Report
and Cafeteria Report for June 2014.

Facility Use Fee Waiver. The following
facility rental fee request was approved:
o Use of the visitor side stadium
concession stand by the Kingsway
Education Foundation for the 20142015 school year.
o Use of the visitor side stadium
concession stand by the Kingsway
Marching Band Boosters for the 20142015 school year.

Shared Services Agreements. The following
shared services agreements were approved:
o CST - KRSD MS & South Harrison School
District, 7/21/14 – 9/30/15:
Danielle Pontecorvo, School
Psychologist – Hourly fee $35.09.
o CSTS – KRSD HS & South Harrison
School District, 7/21/14 – 9/30/15:

2014 MS and HS Athletic Schedules. The
Board approved the 2014 MS and HS
athletic schedules.

2014-2015 NJSIAA Membership. The Board
approved the 2014-2015 NJSIAA
membership, annual membership dues are
$2,150.00.

Professional Learning Workshops –
Summer Academy:
o Google Basics Boot Camp – 08/13/2014
– 1.5 hr. – Carmelo costa presenter, pay
rate $35.09.

08/19/14 - The board approved the boys’
and girls’ soccer teams to participate in the
Philadelphia Union Field Day at PPL in
Chester, PA. Kingsway busing will be

annual cost $74,284.58.

Child Nutrition Program Consolidation
Agreement. The following program
consolidation was approved:
o KRSD and South Harrison School
District, 2014-2015 school year.

Child Study Team Summer Evaluation
Agreement. The following summer
evaluation agreement was approved:

MISCELLANEOUS
Numerous other requests for approval for
workshop attendance, student activities, and
education items were approved by the Board of
Education. These approvals will be reflected in
the formal minutes of the meeting which are
available in the office of the Board of Education
secretary as well as posted online after Board
approval.
The next meeting of the Board is the work
session meeting scheduled for Monday, August
18, 2014, in the Board Conference Room and
begins at 7:00 p.m.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the
Board is Monday, August 25, 2014, in the High
School Cafeteria West and begins at 7:00 p.m.
