The Meeting was called to order at 6:34 p.m. by the Board President, Mr. Briggs.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
A.
Social Workers Elaine Flatow and Rebecca Leach provided the Board with a brief
overview of the May 9 Global Youth Services Day. The students from Cohoes High
School cleaned up around the local businesses throughout the city.
B.
Joseph Rajczak, Cohoes High Co-Principal, introduced Coleman Reardon as this
year’s Channel 13 Best and Brightest.
C.
Mr. Klozko, Cohoes High Science Teacher, and several of his students provided the
Board with a brief description of ongoing research projects being coordinated with
SUNY at Albany in this year’s 12th Science Research Symposium to be held in the
high school auditorium on June 12.
D.
Jen Ballard, Music Teacher, informed the Board that the New York State School
Music Association (NYSSMA) Annual Solo Festival will be hosted by the Cohoes
City School District this year on May 30 and 31st at both Cohoes High and Harmony
Hill Schools.

A.
Curriculum and Instruction
Erin Hill, Director of Special Education Programs, provided a presentation of the
Language Live Program’s success in helping students improve their reading levels.
B.
Business and Operations
Stacy Mackey, School Business Official, announced that the certified public
accounting firm of Stark & Basila will be performing this year’s external audit from
June 2-6.

THAT the Board of Education accepts the Minutes of the Committee on Special
Education for the following meeting dates: 02/03/14, 02/07/14, 02/13/14, 03/03/14,
03/05/14, 03/07/14, 03/10/14, 03/11/14, 03/12/14, 03/14/14, 03/17/14, 03/20/14,

BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District
hereby amends the Employment Agreement of Erin Hill, dated October 16, 2013, in
accordance with the addendum dated May 7, 2014, authorizes the Board President
to execute said addendum and authorizes payment therewith.
C.
BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District
hereby amends the Employment Agreement of Peggy O’Shea, dated August 1, 2007,
and all addendums to said agreement, in accordance with the addendum dated May
7, 2014, authorizes the Board President to execute said addendum and authorizes
payment therewith.
D.
BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District
hereby amends the Employment Agreement of Stacy Mackey, dated April 23, 2013,
in accordance with the addendum dated May 7, 2014, authorizes the Board President
to execute said addendum and authorizes payment therewith.
E.
THAT the Board of Education approves the Technology Plan for the 2014-15 school
year.

F.
THAT the Board of Education approves a contract with Four Winds Saratoga located
at 30 Crescent Avenue, Saratoga Springs, New York 12866 for 2014-15 at a rate of
$32 per hour for tutorial services provided to eligible students.
G.
THAT the Board of Education approves an Agreement with the Enlarged City School
District of Troy, New York to provide health services to two (2) students residing in
Cohoes and attending school in the Troy during the 2013-14 school year in the
amount of $621.73 per child.
H.
THAT the Board of Education approves the Agreement between the University at
Albany and the Cohoes City School District for a Reading Graduate Program to
enable tutoring for our students.

THAT the Board of Education awards the Custodial Supplies bid dated April 3, 2014
as follows:

THAT the Board of Education awards the Copy Paper bid dated May 8, 2014 to WB
Mason in the amount of $23,959.73.

THAT the Board of Education amends the 2013/14 Budget in the amount of $1,050
to cover transportation expenses to Valley Cats Education Day on June 17, 2014 by
6th & 7th graders at Cohoes Middle School.
O.
THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation from Abram Lansing Parents Club
in the amount of $1,140 for Pre-K - 2nd graders to see “Pinkalicious” at the Palace
Theatre on April 28, 2014.
P.
THAT the Board of Education amends the 2013/14 Budget in the amount of $1,140
to cover transportation expenses to the Palace Theatre on April 28, 2014 by Pre-K 2nd graders at Abram Lansing School.
Q.
THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation from Abram Lansing Parents Club
in the amount of $300 for the 4th grade Trout Experiment - Release Phase educational
trip on May 20, 2014.
R.
THAT the Board of Education amends the 2013/14 Budget in the amount of $300
to cover transportation expenses for the Trout Experience - Release Phase on May
20, 2014 by 4th graders at Abram Lansing School.
S.
THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation from Abram Lansing Parents Club
in the amount of $380 for the 3rd grade educational trip to Koto Japanese Restaurant
on May 7, 2014.
T.
THAT the Board of Education amends the 2013/14 Budget in the amount of $380
to cover transportation expenses to Koto Japanese Restaurant on May 7, 2014 by 3rd
graders at Abram Lansing School.
U.
THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation from Abram Lansing Parents Club
in the amount of $220 for the 5th grade educational trip to Rensselaerville Institute
for Young Writer’s Day on May 14, 2014.
V.
THAT the Board of Education amends the 2013/14 Budget in the amount of $220
to cover transportation expenses for Young Writer’s Day on May 14, 2014 by 5th
graders at Abram Lansing School.
W.
THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation from Harmony Hill School PTA
in the amount of $464 and $56 from parents for the 2nd grade educational trip to
Adirondack Animal Land, Broadalbin, New York on June 19, 2014.

in the amount of $380 for Abram Lansing Elementary School’s 4th grade educational
trip to Waterford Harbor Visitor Center on May 8, 2014.

THAT the Board of Education amends the 2013/14 Budget in the amount of $380
to cover transportation expenses to the Waterford Harbor Visitor Center on May 8,
2014 by 4th graders at Abram Lansing Elementary School.

THAT the Board of Education waives the building use fee for the New York State
School Music Association Festival to be held on May 30-31, 2014 at Cohoes High
School and Harmony Hill Elementary School in the amount of $800.
