CITY OF PHOENIX WATER SERVICES DEPARTMENT Val Vista Water Transmission Main Rehabilitation Rural Road to River Drive on Rio Salado Parkway Project Overview The City of Phoenix Water Services Department and Kiewit Infrastructure West Co. is rehabilitating the Val Vista Water Transmission Main along Rio Salado Parkway between Rural Road and River Drive, just west of Loop 101. The rehabilitation involves installing steel pipe liners into the existing pipeline. To gain access into the pipeline, Kiewit will use three access pits locations along Rio Salado Parkway (see map below). Overnight hours will take place between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. within the pipe for welding. Traffic Restrictions Part of the median in Rio Salado Parkway between Perry Lane and Smith Road around Pit #7 will be temporarily removed and paved in order to maintain traffic flow with minimal queue time. This will provide two lanes westbound and one lane eastbound. Keeping traffic on the north side of the median on Rio Salado Parkway will provide the safest conditions to both travelers and construction workers during construction. What to Expect The tentative construction dates for each pit are the following: Pit 7: mid-September to mid-January 2015 Pits 4 & 5: early January 2015 to late June We are committed to open communication and working together with the community during construction. Traffic during construction of Pit #5 will be temporarily re-routed north of the median. There are no expected traffic restrictions for Pit #4 as it will be out of the roadway.
