How Does It Work? VIS SITE CONTROLLER PUMP CONTROLLER PASSIVE TAG VID ODO, ENGINE HOURS Vehicle Upgrade Kit VID The Vehicle Identification Device (VID) is a highly secure smart-card based vehicle identifier, which stores information such as the account number, registration number, fuel grade, and tank capacity of the vehicle. It has inputs for odometer and engine operating hours, an extended memory map and incorporates transaction counters. The tag is powered by the vehicle’s electrical supply. Passive Tag The Passive Tag is a vehicle identifier, which either serves as the inlet antenna or can be used on a stand-alone basis. The Passive Tag comes in a variety of form factors. It can store information such as the account number, registration number, fuel grade, and tank capacity of the vehicle and incorprates a transaction counter. Handheld Tag Presented at the Saturn 6500 or RFN, these tags can be used to support driver identification when the VID is encoded to work in conjunction with a driver tag. These tags can also be used to support attendant tagging i.e. where the pump is placed in override mode to refuel a non-EasyFuelPlus equipped vehicle. Stand-alone handheld tags can also be used to refuel specific hired vehicles or plant equipment. GPS Odometer Sender (GOS) The GOS is used in conjunction with a VID to measure distance travelled independently of the vehicle. The GOS units has a pre-set pulse per kilometre value eliminating the need for calibration at the time of installation or recalibration thereafter. Anti-Siphoning Device (ASD) An anti-siphoning device and Passive Tag housing designed for use in conjunction with the EasyFuelPlus solution. Site Upgrade Kit Radio Frequency Nozzle (RFN) The Radio Frequency Nozzle is a wireless transceiver fitted to the nozzle and is used as a Passive Tag reader and nozzle identifier. The RFN communicates with the EF VIS Site Controller. The RFN is robust, does not require any adaptations to the nozzle and is easy to install. Where a customer opts not to use the Saturn 6500 reader, handheld tags such as attendant and driver tags can be presented to the RFN. EF VIS Site Controller The EasyFuel VIS Site Controller is an integrated unit that communicates with OTI’s VIS hardware, processes business rules for transaction authorisation and passes pump release instructions to the pump controller. The Saturn 6500 (optional) The Saturn 6500 is a contactless smart-card reader fitted to the face of the pump. It is used to read handheld tags (driver tags, override tags, stand-alone vehicle or plant specific tags). It also provides user feedback and prompts (audio buzzer and alpha-numeric display).
