Sir, You may be aware that the revamped NFSM has been extended in all North-Eastern States' and Sikkim. From the year 2014-15, NFSMPulses will be implemented in all districts and NFSM-Coarse Cereals in 28 districts of the NE States. Under revamped NFSM, several other initiatives like support to institutesjorganisations including NGOs in remote areas, value chain integration of small producers, marketing support for pulses and millets etc. are included for the first time which need to be elaborated for achieving the target of NFSM with mission mode implementation of the program. In view of above, it is proposed to organise "Two days Orientation Workshop for North-Eastern States on Promotion of Pulses and Coarse Cereals" during 13-14th June, 2014. The workshop shall be organised by Directorate of Agriculture, Govt. of Meghalaya in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Barapani. Director, Directorate of Jute Development (DJD), Kolkata shall be Liaison Officer. At least three officers of all NE States and Sikkim shall be invited for participation. Since, the NFSM-Pulses, Coarse Cereals program has been launched in North -Eastern States and Sikkim for the first time and NFSM-Rice has been revamped, following agenda item shall be deliberated during the workshop for effective implementation and monitoring of Programme: (i) (ii) (iii) Recommended varieties and package & practices of various Pulses, Coarse Cereal crops of North-Eastern States and Rice; Management of Soil, INM and IPM on Pulses, Coarse Cereals and Rice in North-Eastern States; Marketing support and value chain integration of Pulses and Coarse Cereals; Contd ... -2(iv) (v) (vi) Understanding guideline, arrangements for critical input supply; Monitoring & Reporting System to be followed & online data submission through MIS on NFSM website; and Other issues, if any. The venue of workshop shall be ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Barapani, Shillong.
