Korea Telecom Launches Broadcom-enabled Ultra HD IPTV Service
New Olleh GiGA UHD(4K) Set-top Box Delivers Vivid Ultra HD Content to South Korean Subscribers
AMSTERDAM, Sept. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- IBC 2014 -- Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation
leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced that its Ultra high-definition (HD)
system-on-chip (SoC) technology has enabled Korea Telecom, South Korea's largest telecommunications provider, to launch
one of the nation's first 4K in-home IPTV media service. Leveraging Broadcom's advanced compression and decoding
technology, Korea Telecom's Olleh GiGA UHD(4K) set-top box (STB) delivers fluid 60 frame-per-second (fps) video with vivid
10-bit color at 4X the resolution conventional HD displays. Broadcom will demonstrate its full line of HEVC-enabled SoCs at IBC,

Korea Telecom's innovative Olleh GiGA UHD(4K) service allows subscribers to search for programs via voice commands and
watch four different channels simultaneously. Consumers can also check for live statistics during sporting event broadcasts
and view content in multiple languages. Korea Telecom plans to launch a variety of programming options, offering more than
500 Ultra HD program choices by the end of this year.
With Broadcom's complete portfolio of HEVC-enabled devices, operators can substantially reduce the bandwidth required for
Ultra HD or HD content transmission over IP, cable or satellite networks, and deliver these services to more locations
throughout the home.
